Well been busy installing hardwood floors, but finally got some time to work on this. A small change with the lighting. When trying to extend the cables on the CCFLs they would not light properly when I was done. They were very dim and when I sleeved the wires together they would not light at all. I first thought it was my soldering job so had my buddy come over and redo it, the same thing. He said were the soldering spots were the heatshrink was not a good enough insulator, not sure if that is true but they no longer worked right. So switched to leds. They are brighterfrom the loos of it and still worked after extending the power leads.

    a few pics of them.
    36 leds

They look like they light a little more of the case up, so that is good.

Should have an update of the dvd install tomorrow. Need to get some pics of it. I think I finally got it thanks to bouly.
Till then enjoy and thanks for lookin............

The LEDs look good although it does seem as though there is a dim patch in the middle of the bottom plate. oh well, the advantage of the leds is that you could also do flashing or patterns with them if you add a controller..

Anyways I love it still and keep up the good work...

Finished mounting the DVD this morning. My original plan was to use the aluminum strips I had left over to make some what of a bracket to mount it. After seeing bouly's post I ditched that plan and went about using the original clips that came with the case ( I completly forgot about them ) I glued two washers together for the spacers to raise the drive up to the right hieght and glue them over the bottom mounting holes. Screwed in some bolts that had the right size head for the G5 clips to grab ahold of properly. Here are some pics and made a video. Video is not that great, Used my Moto Q9c.

Put most of it together and fired it up to make sure everything was working. Several problems to work out and then I can paint and put do a final build. 2 fan cables are too short, the aftermarket pci connectors were %#$ up. The middle pin on the top is suppose to be rounded off but it is square, will either have to try and round it off myself or will be using the stock red connectors. So now I off to tear it back apart, extend and sleeve my fan cables, work on the pci connectors and paint this puppy.

On the bright side successfully installed win7 even though asus said the board did not support it and temps are low even though I'm only using 2 fans at the moment.

Next update should be the last final assembly

Ok, well this update isn't the final build like I said the next one would be but had to share my painting results. All I did so far was the cover for the cooler.

Looks a lot better but I still don't like the dragon in the middle. And if you really feel like it: Why not sand away the ASUS logo?

Some more painting. Also modified the side window so the entire fan could be seen through the side. I hoping I have enough plexi to cut a new piece, if not back to the hardware store...

Recieved 2 of my 4 fans today. These should go with the case alot better than the ones I was going to originally use.

SWEET MOTHER OF SPICY EYE-GOUGING JALEPENOS! WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO THIS LANDMARK OF MODERN DAY COMPUTER SYSTEM HOUSING!!!!

.... A fantastic job, that's what! And I see you are using my favorite color, blue, for the color scheme.... +rep! (also, great work for the lighting unit with the 144 LEDs! I think you should paint the wood housing black, but w/e, it looks great nonetheless!)

yes, as stylish as gray aluminium is it does get boring when it's used as much as it is. And Apple does seem to be a bit locked on a track here.

I myself have a BLACK Lian Li case. I just love it.

I liked the cut out Windows logo. It will shine through here lovely I bet. Looking forward to pictures of that.

Are you going to put some mesh behind it too?

I am going to put a piece of white plexi on the inside of the logo and stick one of those LCD boards behind it. It should light it up pretty good.

preview of the paint...still have a few more coats of clear to go.
