Adaptec 5805 Raid Card Link question is which motherboard would u recommend for the setup? also thinking about swapping the 8800GTS with a GTX260?
Asus P6t (you don't need Deluxe versions). wait till February and buy yourself either the 5870x2 or the Nvidia Gt300.
In my mobo thread, the gigabyte Gigabyte EX58-UD5 was highly recommended, is probably the one im getting.
i have the X58-UD5 and its lovely. but for most people the cheaper X58-UD3R will do and will overclock to 4Ghz.
looks like i'm going for the Asus P6T, the gigabyte board looked alright but not a huge fan of the colour scheme. Going to pair it with a 6GB kit of Transcend Axeram.
good choice; I hope that prices down under tend to be cheaper (since you're so close to the producers)
I have the EX58-UD5 aswell and i highly recommend it. I find its features and layout to be a bit more useful than the ASUS.
got all the parts ordered today; Asus P6T motherboard 6GB of Transcend Axeram Intel Core-i7 920 should be here in 2 days
excellent; did you take the Deluxe or V2 version?? or the solid as a rock common one? Don't forget to tell us when you put it together!!! you forgot the cooler; how about a Scythe Mugen 2??
im on the ud5 bandwagon, faultless mobo, better layout aswel than the p6t, especially the spacing on the pci e slots.
just the standard P6T as far as i can tell the only real difference is the power circuits. most reviewers have been able to get 4Ghz out of the 920 on the standard P6T. the layout on the standard P6T is different to that of the deluxe and works for the cards i need to install. X-Fi Sound Card (PCI) Dual Slot 8800GTS (PCIe x16) Single Slot 9800GT (PCIe x16) Adaptec Raid Card (PCIe x8) haven't really put much thought into coolers as of yet, might have 2 look into that today....
got it all up and running last night and I must say I like it very fast and was a breeze to get up and running which is always nice. now to overclock it anybody have much experience with the ASUS P6T, all these new names for things are a little confusing (BLCK, etc)
@askikamlani cheers for the link @carper in Australia if you have an ABN (Australian business number) then you can deal with the wholesalers i'd imagine there is something similar in the UK.
had abit of a go at it the other night but for some reason the bios has dropped usb keyboard support so i have to dig around to find a PS/2 keyboard to get back into bios and sort that out then the overclocking can begin going to need a new cooler thu i think, computers don't like the australian summer too much...
