Case Mod - In Progress Windows G5, 24 October FINISHED

That's dead sexy, white and blue = yum!

 

OK Final Build Photos. Took over 8 hrs to put this thing back together. Forgot how the door locking mechanism went together, that was most of the time spent. Also had a few glitches with my switches, had all sorts of wires crossed. But this baby is up and running now and now for the photoshoot.......

Thanks Guys, now that I have my first mod complete I am going ot start gathering parts for a media center I've been thinking about while I was doing this one. It will be a scratch build.

The blue and white will set you apart from other g5 mods. You strayed from the traditional monochrome, and it works well.

the lightbox is much better than i anticipated with the side panel on. and i like the cutout so you can see the whole cpu cooler. it gives something to break the hard lines, much like the round handles break the lines of the whole case (what makes it such an awesome case/mod...)

and the windows logo is WIN

 

Realy good project man , is that white acrilic for the windows logo or symbol?
and how´s the 4870x2 is it realy good?

Also u did a great job in that sleeving i wish i could get a Mac case to mod it too ..

Yes on the white acrylic and love the 4870. Was using a 3850 prior and always had to run low settings on games. Now I can Turn all settings to high and it doesn't skip a beat.

I actually ditched the light box and just ran the 4 LCD panels along the bottom edge that the side panel is on. The cooler would not clear the light box.

towards the end of this I was almost going to leave it silver, but thought the same thing, and my wife said to stick with the blue and white, she thought it would look better too.

This is just the begining for me. I really had fun with this one. My old PC is going to my son and he says he would like to do something with it, so may have another small father/son mod soon. Also want to do a scratch build media center.
