CPU: 6.7 RAM: 7.5 Graphics: 6.6 Graphics: 6.6 HDD: 5.9 Phenom II 720 4GB GeIL 1333Mhz 9-9-9-28 512MB 4870 500GB Samsung F3 All at stock. EDIT: LOL! Shows how much bollox this whole thing is, pimonserry has the same GPU but gets 7.4 in aero and graphics.
I used to score 7.4 with my RAM but I guess microsoft updated something, meh I still love my PC though so who cares
You should get better than 5.9 with that RAM, I've got 4GB DDR2-800 (or 820 or something) and I get 7.0 ... Try doing the WEI check again maybe? Edit: I just ran the WEI assessment again and it didn't change my score down, and I'm fully up-to-date. Who knows? (It did put my graphics up to 7.5 and 7.5 though (from 7.4 & 7.4). Hmm) Also, D-Cyph3r, maybe your 4870 was indulging in a bit of PowerPlay, and downclocking itself? I had mine overclocked for the rating (I'm not sure how much load WEI puts on the graphics card, but it might not be enough for it to bring the clocks up to 3D mode?)
Processor: 7.7 Memory: 7.9 Graphics: 6.5 Graphics Gaming: 6.5 Hard Disk: 5.9 Ghys, how did you get 7.3 with a GTX 260/216? I have the same card and with an o/c (648core/1512shader/2520ram) I only get 6.5! Am I missing something in the driver config where switching a certain option on or off gives it an extra bit of welly? Or perhaps mine isn't as overclocked as yours? Just a little concerned mine's not coming up to scratch! I'm also surprised by the hdd rating. I'm sure I got 5.9 on a Samsung F1. The Corsair M64 ssd I have feels far and away snappier. It must be the slightly lower transfer speeds with small files. While it peaks at 100MB/s write and 165MB/s read, that's when it's dealing with chunks rather than nibbles of data. I guess there must be a fair amount of small file copying when running the hdd test. Ah well, I'm happy enough with it, for the moment! edit - just updated gfx drivers and get the same
I ran the test again and it's still 5.9. Meh , who cares I was about to say I don't know until I saw your edit. Now all I can say is
I think the hard drive index is right on the money. There really are better faster storage options, except they are more expensive. Thanks to andrew8200m for sharing results and having an above average crazy fast pc. I do not question anyones honesty here but be aware that the windows experience index can be faked by editing a file in the windows performance folder. Pc salespeople could use fake windows experience index scores to sell sell sell, which is very wrong btw.
Anyone else suspicious that ALL mechanical HDDs seem to be scoring 5.9... which just happens to be the maximum score that Vista used? I mean... all of them? My HDDs can copy a large contiguous file from one drive to another at 115MB/sec... so either the performance index score is based on lots of random small file reads/writes, or it's not very accurate. I appreciate that will be beaten soundly by a decent SSD, but when the 5.9 max score was set by MS, the average SATA drive was slower than that... and still managed to hit 5.9 in Vista. People on here have RAIDs made up of raptors, and can't even get past 5.9.. not even a 6? 6.1? No.. everything is a 5.9. Hmmm.... I expected the HDD to be the weakest link.. but I smell a rat.
system spec = 4.7ghz 920 6gb ram 1880mhz cl7 2x gtx295 sli + gtx285 physx. 2x m225 128gb drives in raid 0 with tweaks. Andy
I agree. My 5400rpm laptop drive gets 5.3, which I would expect any 7200pm/rapters to easily beat. Even if it was more dependent on things like seek times it still doesn't make sense as there is a difference between mechanical drives... people using eco drives and getting the same score as an F3 cannot be right!! Looks like guys at MS have invested in SSD company shares and are trying to get everyone to upgrade!!
That very thought has traversed my mind several times also I had an old Seagate 7200.9 that managed 5.7 and it only managed 64MB sustained, and had slower access times.
Processor: 6.0 Memory: 6.0 Graphics: 7.3 Graphics Gaming: 7.3 Hard Disk: 5.9 Not bad for a £400 PC I think
my netbook can beat that! i think i can achieve 7.9 with a i7 860 + some next generation SSD + a Dx11 card. my i5 750 at 4.1Ghz can get 7.6. it's a shame that the memory score doesn't reward larger size, im really looking forward to be able to put 16GB into my machine.
Processor: 7.2 Memory: 7.2 Graphics: 6.8 Graphics Gaming: 6.8 Hard Disk: 7.0 Base: 6.8 Egarly awaiting my GTX285 to arrive
See, I think this is a little messed up, you got 7.0 with an m225?? I had 7.2 with one of those. Went raid0 m225 x2 and got the 7.9 but only after tweaks. It got 7.8 to begin with. Andy
Yup thats right, its an M225, however Win7 has been in use on it since September 18th without TRIM (only got TRIM support last week with the new firmware update), other than turning off page file and prefetch? No other tweaks have been made. I also made the mistake of installing directly to the drive and not using an image ive also not run the GC tool ever.
Something fishy here. I have a GTX260/216 @ 648core/2520mem and achieve 6.5 for both of the gfx ratings, with latest whql Win7 x64 drivers. I call shennagi.. shagenenn.. bollocks with how WEI seems to be doing its "ratings".
The 8800GTX is/WAS (utill it blew up mid last week ) overclocked, but I agree with you that the index does appear to be... well... bollocks, I've run it once and get 6.9, I run it at a slightly later date and get 6.8 .
