please rework the site background, since all together looks not very convincing (too much white in the middle; more electric blue-lightning colour would do).
The MSI P55 board offering was better done; much better.

A 4 page review of one of the most highly anticipated games of 2009 and your only comment is on the advertising? *boggle*

Nice review Joe - I'll definitely be picking this up at the weekend!

One of the most anticipated games of '09', this is the first time I have ever heard of it lol and I consider myself pretty good for with worth while release dates.

Really? It's been featured in the mag for previews, we've done numerous full articles on it and it's been hyped all over the place...

I've just started playing The Witcher after picking it up half price from Steam at the weekend. Dragon Age sounds quite similar, with the addition of recruiting a group. How do the two compare? I've played Baldur's Gate and Mass Effect - loved the first but tired of the second, so if Dragon Age is similarly done I'll leave this one alone and stick with Geralt

They use the same engine, them two.

Personally, if you want something new and different then The Witcher is what you should get. If you want something familiar and safe then Dragon Age is your man. The Witcher is fantastic, but slightly uncomfortable. Dragon Age is fantastic, but hardly groundbreaking.

I don't touch Steam, the only reason I have it is because you need it to play DoW2 and because they decided to release Audiosurf on it, I followed that from BETA and was torn when they released it on Steam.

@CardJoe - We don't get the mag here in Australia and I hardly venture away from the main page and the modding forums on B-T anyway. I vaguely remember a run down in PC Powerplay but it hardly caught my attention because they actually gave it a rather low score (a 6 if I recall correctly). When compared to The Witcher it just didn't really stack up. Then again I am very selective with the RPG games I play.

There may have been a lot of hype overseas but in the Australian gaming community things have been pretty quiet, mainly bitching about Valve releasing a new L4D instead of keeping their promises with the original.

It's not the most talked about game around, that would likely fall to something with big mass appeal MW2, but most people who are into their RPGs have at least heard of it. But I do see where you're coming from, didn't seem as prominent a release as ME was, I remember with ME there were some great developer walkthrough vids in 2 consecutive E3s that were released all over the place.

I have the collectors edition of this on preorder. I loved the narrative of Mass Effect so much that even if this is a repeat of that I'll probably still enjoy it heaps haha. Good review Joe.

Didn't think it would ever live up to Baldur's gate. Such a shame. Probably still buy it though.

Your observation that each Bioware games gets more simple is an interesting one. I was shocked when I saw the amount of choices in character in KoTOR and ME; BG was vast in comparison. And I know no one wants me to say it, but it does reek of consolification.

    *runs for his life*

Bit-tech - this didn't read like a review but a biased rant. You didn't go into much game's features/specifics. You rate fuzzy topics and quickly give opinions on them rather than trying to describe in detail and let the reader decide. There's a LOT of important stuff about this game that you didn't cover. Your review I rate a 4/10.
