Gaming Left 4 Dead 2 Demo Impressions

I haven't played the first one but I played this demo last night for about half hour and found it quite boring. A few zombies, then a whole mob from nowhere, over and over. I got to the scaffolding and switched off the alarm and then quit.

Maybe I'll play it again but it doesn't seem to be my game at this moment.

 

Played the demo, was pretty short. That's not an entire campaign is it? I played the first game on the xbox and that needed to load between the safe rooms, was it just because the PC version didn't need to load that often... and that was multiple levels... or was that one level? If that makes sense :S
I'm quite impressed I could run the game smooth (maxed out) at 768p on my little old ATI 2600XT though. It only slowed down a tiny bit during a pipe bomb explosion.

 

No, there's only 2 safe rooms so presumably it's only 2/5 of a campaign.

 

been playing the demo, I must say I like it so far. The umm boomer green stuff in a bottle is fun to throw at a large crowd of zombies and watch them tear each other limb to limb.

 

Do that to the tank and watch the zombies swarm him.

 

Yeah the boomer bile bottle is easily the best part of the demo.


I just realised, i've played through a few times and still haven't seen a witch, i wonder what happens if you bile bomb her?

 

The boomer bile + getting boomed + pipe bomb = epic matrix style explosion (When Neo gets covered in Smiths)

 

I think my poor old computer would die at that with the funky new pipebomb rag dolls.

 

It does crawl for a few of my friends, they get normal frame rates for everything except large pipe bomb explosions.
Also being able to gang up on the witch with machetes in expert is fun.

 

The game had a little stutter so i updated the driver to the latest nvidia beta..and it's worse than before. God damn it, sometimes i hate pc's so much.

That's true. I played crash course after playing the l4d2 demo and the feel is totally different. I prefer the characters also.

I hear the other campaigns in l4d2 are night time so that may help bring it back a little. Though perhaps alot of that feel is lost with the new music aswell.

Anyway, I like the demo after playing it a bit.

 

Actually i managed it last night, hit her from a way back, ran backwards shooting like i was about to die. The common slowed her enough so the team could take her out before she caught me, it was very funny. I think it was becuase she was near a wall so the common just came piling over.

 

I got a chance to play the entire Dark Carnival campaign earlier this week (and if i get time I'll write more about it), but it goes a long way to recapturing the old L4D feel.
