Another Sleepstreamer mod - I'm going to enjoy this :D

I really like your idea on mounting the HD-cages. - one question though - how are the cages going to be fixed? I see tapped holes in the acrylic baseplate, but I assume they are for securing the acrylic to the alu plate underneath??

Oh - just got a second look - didn't notice the holes in the outer side of the drivecages.

Yep, they slide in sideways and use the acrylic pieces as rails. I'll probably use 4x thumbscrews on each cage to lock them into place.

Didn't get as much done today as I'd hoped, but I guess a little is better than nothing.

I've started work on the front wall which I'll route all the cables for the HDDs through. It'll all be modular, which means a shedload of molex connectors will be mounted here.

This is the basic shape of the wall, pretty much a mirrored version of the opposite one.

    The second one:

Now I just need four pieces to fill up the gap between the panels.

Looks pretty good, the gaps are a bit too big for my liking, but I'll fix that later on.

That's it for today, I'll hopefully get some more work done tomorrow.

Spent the day filling in the frame, after this I'll start to design the interior. Not quite sure of how it'll look yet.

Started by making mounting-points for the coverpanels, 5mm alu.

    Tapped the edges with M3.

With that done I began working on getting it all covered up, took alot more time than I anticipated. Cut, sand, file, bend, file, file some more, sand, etc...

    Took a break.

    Break over.

Then same thing with the middle pieces.

Tapped with M3, had to dissassemble the whole thing to drill these :duh:

There we go. As you can see I'm still missing a few bolts in here, need to file the width of the covers down a bit before I fit them.

Sorry about the poor quality on this one.

Thats it for this update! :thumb:

If the Navies of the world ever build more battleships or carriers I know who to call for the electronics!
    Awesome.

A lot of hardware needs a lot of space, that's just how it is

In all honesty though, it's really not as big as it looks. It's probably the industrial-ish look that's playing tricks on your mind. Same thing happened with the Mce build, it looked freaking massive in the pictures.

Done some sketching on the outer panels yesterday, I'll post a pic first thing tomorrow.

-Sorry, The MST3K keeps coming back.:hehe:
This screams for gullwing doors. -Although you wouldn't be able to have both open at the same time.

Ahh, MST3K, the only source of weird jokes you'll ever need! Awesome show though.
Maybe I'll do a pair of lambo-doors just to annoy you :naughty:

    Thanks Fozzy!.

    Thanks, but... what logo?

Anyway, what do you guys think about a front similar to the one on the Asus build?

    Thanks Xion :)

Made some bolts yesterday, basically it's just normal stainless m4 bolts, but with a milled 7mm key grip rather than a hex socket head. I'm hoping it'll make the interior look a bit cleaner.
