I average around 50 kb/s and top out around 250 kb/s; but I thinks it's the seed/peer fault because while downloading I can still browse the internet and watch youtube clips I need to start torrenting at work
I have tried high number ports in the 40k range. However, I don't think its going to matter what port I use. I mean if its being throttled on port 80 (http port), then it can't simply be a case of their throttling that port, else websites would be very slow to load.
BT option 3 unlimited... its a load of shite they limit me till midnight then get around 600kb/s (if im really lucky) till 8am ish, stuck in a 12 month contract!
I've currently got a few torrents running also of various things, most running at 250Kb/s speed, one running at 2Mb/s
What torrent client are you using?? I've just reinstalled uTorrent to try and get xubuntu and to see if its working yet. Got it set to port 29206, and its forwarded correctly. 31(115) Seeds 2(161) Peers And my Download speed is around 0.2kB/s. Estimated download time for 670MB Xubuntu is 1week!!! Wheras if I go and download it normally (not using torrent) I'll get about 280kB/s. @Ramble I didn't think any of the British ISPs were using Packet Inspection yet??
Yeh, I know. Don't know if it was in the contract. I might get my dad to ring up and ask them, I'm sure I've read somewhere on the internet of people on TalkTalk also getting throttled, and they just phoned up asked why it was blocked when it shouldn't be, and it got unblocked.
found this on the TalkTalk site, so ok, I can understand it might not run at 250kbps. But 1kbps is just ridiculous.
ok, this is really weird. I'd left uTorrent running, downloading xubuntu. The speed was usually around 1kbps. I then proceeded to play NFS Shift, Online. I've now come back to find that xubuntu has finished and had been downloading at full speed right up untill I exited NFS Shift. However, Top Gear, which was also Downloading, didn't speed up, and is still showing rubbish speeds. And 10:50 surely can't still be peak period????!!!!
