Gaming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 PC Review

I was thinking about getting it just for SP and then sell it... if only that was possible.

 

I'm with the Ars review.

They nutered mulitplayer and also took out LAN play and you still gave it a 9? LAN play is life blood for our LAN group.

I don't care how good single player is it's not worth $50 to $60 for 5 hours of play. I don't buy the movie theater analogy people like to use because I can grab another game right next to it that provides 12 to 100s of hours of play time.

Let me know when it hits the bargain bin $15 and I'll check out the SP.

Great news from the frontlines!

Sorry about my long rant..... anyway dedicated servers are up and running for this game and some special people are working on a being able to LEAN
I love the PC community.

 

Wow, i can't really describe hot disappointing this game is. It may be a "Game of the year" for some, but its not for me.

- Single player is even shorter than MW1 (if that's even possible), but at least its fun. Although its obviously a simple console port with that "keep pressing F to take out the knife" stuff.
- i really don't get what have they been working on for the past 2 years. I Mean the graphics are the same as in MW1, single player has no animated cutscenes... really, what have they been doing? figuring out ways to strip LAN code from COD4 and optimize it for consoles??

All in all, this game was uninstalled from my computer right after finishing the SP, since i obviously can't play it with my friends in LAN. I'm really, really glad i "tried it out" before i payed for this game, because it really is (for my own needs) useless.

I've been lurking about for a year now, but this is the 1st time i had a reason to "share" my opinion

Rating this abomination a 9 out of 10 is one of BT's worst moments.

I'd say more but its time to play more Shattered Horizon, a 9 out of 10 game for real!

 

As someone who has just paid shy of £40 for this game, mainly for the online play, it's £40 down the drain.

The review does highlight that this is a good game, however the shortcomings detract so much that I would find it difficult to award the MP side more that 2/10.

• I have never played a game with so much inherant lag, the fact that you are connecting to a host players machine means there is no getting around this.
• Getting kicked out of a game half way through because the host has rage quit, gets boring after the tenth time.
• The game is not very well balanced, when a player is able to run around the whole map with nothing more than a knife and rack up a kill score, to enable the all conquering helicopter, it starts to piss you off after a while.
• Not being able to play the maps you like, come on IW that's just not on.
• The number cheats already out there and being used is astounding.

Most of the issues I've encountered in two days of play would be solved by using dedicated servers, please IW for the love of god update the game to include dedicated servers so I can actually enjoy it.

• I want to play on a regular, well moderated server with a friendly bunch of people.
• I want to play with minimal lag.
• I want to find a server that plays the maps I like, and game modes I like.
• I want to play a game for more than 10 minutes without having to pause whilst the game finds a new host.
• I want a server that kicks cheating little 12 year olds.

I'm not asking a lot, I just don't see the need to turn a great franchise into a waterer down console pile of crap.

 

on the console its fun at least, much more depth in gun upgrades and 3 perks makes for interesting balancing.

dont even get me started on the PC version lol.

 

Very good game, nice review, but this COD is too short, only 4 hours.
