If your computers are fairly close together, you can plug a spare mouse into you colleagues PC (hide it under papers on your desk or just block it from view) and every so often move their cursor (black tape under the mouse sensor to stop theirs working if you want).

You're relating your stance to a clip on The Office?

What a win for common sense...

What? I have no idea what your post is supposed to mean, so I'll explain what I meant. The reason The Office is funny is because it's incredibly accurate. My point was that just because the target of a homophobic/racist/sexist joke finds it funny doesn't mean that it's not offensive or inappropriate, which is precisely what happens in that scene/episode. Brent makes a racist joke, a black guy says he thinks it's reasonably funny, but a lot of other people think it's a bit offensive and a bit odd.

Gluing the offenders phone to the cradle is my favorite, then ringing them as they get in and watch them slam the whole phone into their head.

When i was at college back in the early days when the internet was just becoming popular one of the guys in our class decided it would be funny to look at some porn. The computers where in rows and he was directly behind me so when the lecturer walked in i pulled out his mouse and keyboard and the guy behind him shouted out 'Hey Stuarts looking at porn!'. It was bloody funny watching desperately trying to shut down his computer.

Another time one of our classmates had been out the night before and was so hung over he fell asleep in front of the computer. We rolled him out into the corridor and tried to put him into the lift but the wheels got stuck in the gap between the lift and the floor and he woke up. :sigh:

The best one though was removing the sherbet from the middle of those flying saucer sweets and replacing it with Persil.

Some very good ideas there, but i think i would get shot where i work is i got caught wasting time like that. What we have to do it call people name as we walk round a corner so they turn round. Or my best when your in a corridor and there is some one in front and someone behind you, wolf whistle and turn a corner, they then turn round and look at the guy behind you.. Epic :)

At my old school if you named a file 'porn' or some variation including porn it wouldn't open.

Thus, the best trick was to Ctrl+A, F2, Porn, and watch them fail to open anything. And what with most secondary school pupils being computer illiterate bar for MSN etc., they'd attempt to rename every file one-by-one... :duh:

Edit: also, the jelly mouse is very impressive.

My office is strict. Anything considered destructive such as the jell-o stuff or waste of office supplies(post its) is bad.

Our manager does let us get away with messing with unlocked computers though. Usually innocent things such as changing the background, mouse speed, etc. The last guy that did got stuck with the gem below and offered via email to buy lunch for the whole team.

Oh! I have to do the jelly mouse thing!

We do stuff like this at work all the time. Changing wallpapers is a must when people don't lock their computers. I have seen some really nasty pics as wallpapers... We have now developed a system that automatically resets the wallpaper to a nasty picture every day.

    Other things we have done:

    - Hide cellphones inside boxes or in the ceiling (Roof tiles)
    - Remove membrane from keyboards leaving the controller so that the lights still work.
    - switch around keys
    - Putting moist paper and seeds in a keyboard during summer vacations. 2 weeks and it was all green. :)
    - removing pins from display and power cables (Funky colors on displays running VGA)
    - cover entire workspace in very stick labels (Chair and desk still have glue residue on it)
    - moving a guys car with a forklift
    - zip tie monitor to a 6 meter high ceiling (We also connected it to a laptop putting "are you mad now?" on the display)
    - replaced hard drive with a crushed one. (2,5" drives sounds like they are filled with sand when they are crushed)
    - super glue mouse to mouse mat
    - covering office windows with styrofoam balls. (Making the office look completely filled with styrofoam)
    - sticking tacky glass birds with LEDs in them to an office ceiling.
    - taping people to their chair
    - blocking workspaces/offices with pallets, boxes or other heavy objects.
    - taping chairs to ceiling

Yeah, that's what i can remember now.

Unfortunately we don't have much time for stuff like this anymore... :(
