Open Source Office free ware...?

    hi,

    Just wondering what a good free ware version of office is and where i can get it from?

    Can't find my memory stick with office on it :wallbash:

    I think Open Office sould be fine. I wouldn't know though, i don't use any Office at all.

    +1 for OpenOffice. Completely free and able to read most Office formats (it doesn't, I think, read Office 2007 files - the ones with the x on the end of the extensions: .docx, .xlsx etc).

    Available to download from the Open Office website

    +1, OpenOffice is an excellent alternative. I think the latest version(s) can read Office 2007 files, but I'm not 100% sure.

    Definitely try Open Office. According to this it can open Microsoft Office 2007 files, but can't save them.

    There are a couple freeware converters out there that convert freely between .doc and .docx formats. The conversion doesn't usually work 100%, but it should be good enough for everyday purposes.

    It's sort of a clumsy workaround, but it works.

    open office is great and it CAN definitly read Office 07 stuff, the issue is when i open file which i have saved to an MSO format from open office the margins tend to be differant to how they are displayed on screen when opened with MSO, which is fne, provided your not e-mail a CV or the likes
