The only thing that helped me (I have a linksys router though, not a BT HomeHub) was to set my PC's IP address in an DMZ.

Agreed, you just need to forward the ports and it'll work, you can find the required prts on the steam forum :)

You shouldnt have to open DMZ, just the ports. Only time I've only had to open DMZ is to access my home server away from home.

No way i'm going to put pc in DMZ leaving it wide open to attack !
Have tried a static ip address and forwarded ports as mentioned in thread.
Have not turned of zone alarm free firewall yet though, or turned of hub at wall after making changes.
Have read that strict nat problem was possibly due to poor coding from bt in their last firmware
    upgrade!

Going to try free software called simple port forwarding by pcwintech.com on majorgeeks friend
used it to forward ports on his bt home hub 1.

Let you know if it works.

Have you opened the ports on your firewall too?

Thought zone alarm free would ask if wanted to open ports as you cannot open ports manually with free version? Although somebody will correct me i expect.

Don't have to open ports just allow server and program in trusted zone apparently.

zone alarm free doenst allow you to port forward last time i used it. the pro version does though.

had a lot of issues with zonealarm free because you cant really configure it much

Can anybody recommend a free firewall that can forward port address then?

Commodo ? windows firewall? Could download bt netprotect + package as it's free with option 3.

Currently using avast home 4.8 , zonealarm free and spybot after using Norton which was free with last bt package, resource hog!!!

Don't bother with a software firewall imo - hardware ones correctly configured are just better, full stop.

Does anyone else find that BT Homehub's are seriously aggressive with ping requests? Everytime I used to try and refresh a server list on our Homehub 1 it would have a spazzy attack thinking someone was DDoS'ing. :\
