I was thinking of buying 2 20" Dell monitors to put either side of my 30" in portrait mode for a triple monitor setup. But Ati eyefinity will not work with running 1 landscape and 2 monitors in portrait fro gaming yet. Thanks for looking. Simon
Dang, awesome rig so far! First get some 1066 Ram. Then an SSD. Or the monitor Idea you had, it's awesome O__O
http://www.zi-mm.co.uk/ultimate-gam...2-vibration-motors-leather-finish-2999-0.html Something along the same line.... It's all your really missing other than SSD (Im guessing) Ha.
My suggestion's the Crucial M225 128GB for £300. Note: See also G:Skill Falcon, OCZ Vertex... blah, blah... Indilinx drives, basically. They're all identical, but AFAIK, the Crucial's the cheapest, and available direct from their wesbite.
LOL, Nice idea tho. Thanks for the input lol. I think I will not upgrade the ram as I will upgrade to ddr3 and get either X58 or X68 Mobo when its out and possibly 6 core gultown if the price is right next year. Look's like its going to be a SSD for a boot drive. I ain't going to look forward to this as I have over 1.5tb of Data I have to back up and then go through the stages of installing windows again. Great lol I have Windows 7 professional 64bit. Forgot to add that to my rig. Thanks for the advice so far. Keep it coming tho. Simon
That is in budget i7 920 for £200 and £100+ for memory. But £200+ for a mobo. Which I wouldn't be able to buy till after Christmas tho.
Money won't be a problem after Xmas to upgrade to a better cpu, ram and mobo. but this time of year it cost me a fortune to buy for such a big family. In excess of £1000 for 20 peeps. So the £300 is a nice treat to me.
Blew up? I've had this PSU for over 2 years and had 2 hd2900xt 1gb cards (those cards eat the power) running off it and 2 hd3870x2 in quad cf and I ain't had a problem with it. My cpu has ran stable at 4 ghz for nearly 18months with that psu. Maybe cpc had a dodgy one? I would highly recommend this psu to anyone!!!
Yes my Partner is female. She has given me the money to buy myself something for Xmas. I have just spent close to £500 for her at Xmas.
+1 for this - Seriously, don't spend anymore money on your rig, not needed. I'd book a weekend away at a nice B&B if I was you. That would get you more +rep with her(e) than an SSD will ever get you.
Apparently, there were problems with some (don't remember which, off the top of my head) of the rails falling below ATX spec, and it couldn't actually deliver 1000W. The best they managed was 990W for a total of 2 minutes, before it blew up and gave off a funny smell. Could just be a funny one, to be fair, but I wouldn't push it past 900W, just to be sure. Maybe think outside the Intel-powered box here - that money could get you driving lessons, a guitar, a pool table... Maybe it's not a question of which component to buy, but more using it to do something different! Oh, and hammer the Steam January sales, OBVIOUSLY! For people saying "spend it on the missus", this is true_gamer's Christmas present from his girlfriend, and from the sounds of it, she's getting a lot already this Christmas! EDIT: So, if true_gamer was gay, he should buy the SSD?
This is the specs of my PSU you will see that 1000w is continuous power with a 1200w max output. As a matter of fact we are going to Prince of Wales Theatre to watch Mamma Mia and stay at the The Hampshire - Radisson Edwardian hotel for the weekend. I'm 27 my partners is 25, we have been together for 8 yrs, we have a little girl aged 11 months so before you say spend it on her, She has a wardrobe of clothes bigger than mine and my partners put together and so many toys that I could open a toy shop let alone the ones she getting for Xmas. Lol So is there anything that you guys n girls would say WoW I want that!! (for under £300) cause I don't know what else to buy. Thanks Simon
well, I still wouldn't buy an SSD right now, not with all prices inflated 30%. So buy the sounds of it, everyone in the fam is covered. Sky Diving? Scuba Diving? Stunt Driving Course? Cook lessons with Jamie Oliver?
Treat yourself to some nice underwear from Ann Summers and a decent bottle of wine. Apply both on same night and enjoy Either that or Synology NAS Sky Diving would get you 1 jump for £300, and you wouldn't enjoy the first jump really, too much to think about.
