Hi guys, am new to the forum but a long time subscriber to custom pc. Have been reading the site for the past month or so and has inspired me to make my own htpc from scratch. Im having trouble finding someone to make me a front panel for a tidy price. It will be made from 10mm black acrylic and its 430mmx157mm, really want it laser cut and the recesses cnc milled out. I have a sketchup model of it, but havent got a file hosting so just got a screen grab so you get the idea. http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r272/scooby_nolan/Frontpanelsk.jpg Can anyone help to either make it or point me towards someone that will be able to? Any help would be great, Nolan.
If you change the view to straight on, then printscreen we have a JPEG or GIF that we can put straight into a CnC mill and it should cut no problems I don't have a CnC machine but there are forum members that do, anyone that has a 3 axis machine should be able to do it with no problems
Like this: http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r272/scooby_nolan/Frontpanelfront.jpg or exported as a jpeg: http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r272/scooby_nolan/Sketchup1front.jpg only problem with that is it doesnt show the cutouts from behind like this: http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r272/scooby_nolan/Frontpanelback.jpg I have it exported as a .DWG file if that will help? With a cnc mill, would it cut square into the corners, or is that dependant on the size of the tooling used? Cheers for the reply
I don't think anyone on this forum has a laser CNC but I do know of two members that have 3 axis mills The mill should do the same job
Ah ok thank you, if any one has got a machine that will do the job would appreciate it if they could help. I work as a sheet metal worker so can get bits of stainless, alu or galv steel if you need anything made or folded. Have sent a few emails with a basic drawing off to some uk based companies that do laser cutting but a few are wanting to charge into 3 figures to make it, wich is a bit more than my budget will stretch to for this project.
Epicpccases from Australia (member of ocau forums) has a laser cutter that runs of dwg. He might be able to cut it for you. I think he is a member of this forum to but not sure.
