Hmm this board seems decent for overclocking... running my 2.6ghz Athlonx2 cpu @ 3.11ghz now with no voltage bump. Might keep this one which is fine as I have designed the case around it

    Question time guys -

    Should I:
    Modify the original fascia
create a new one from mesh backed by filter material as per the top
create a new one from acrylic

Could you possibly polish/buff that plexiglass? Ive seen a similar project that used glass-clear plexi, and it looked beautiful. I reckon yours would look great without that clouding in the plexi.

The plan was more to use smoked acryl again, maybe with a layer or two of black paint on the backside so its almost a smoked mirror.. i have a cellphone and an mp3 player with a similar effect

Tried to do some work on the case over xmas, but my dad's drill failed! the chuck locked all the way open so i can't use it... dammit! Will have to splurge on my own this week as well as a file and a new hacksaw blade or 3

will need to be laser cut.. and the bottom section is too complicated to bend so it will be mesh :)

Nice clean style! I like the one with the power button.

I'd make the orange border above the cd-tray a bit thicker. I think it should be at least as thick as the orange border on the sides.

Why are some of the bottom slots wider than the rest? They aren't symmetrical so is there some meaning behind them?

Yeah, I like the power button one too.
@Javerh - I think he's going for a UPC code look, which is cool, BTW.:D
-About that chuck- can you use the key to pop it loose? Give it a good dose of oil, etc. (Yes, I bet you tried all this stuff...)

yep it's a barcode.. there is no border around the optical tray - thats just the fascia painted orange. the chuck doesn't have a key - it's hand tightened only.. pretty old now hence the jam!

Oh well ordered more modding supplies, thanks MNPCTech for being there for the modders!

Ok have recieved the modding supplies from MNPCTech, thanks Bill!

And the brushed alu film that I had planned to use on the inside has given me an idea or 2:
(as you can tell i'm adding to the sketchup when i need it! by the end i will have an accurate skp version of the final case)

you may recognise that last one being similar to an early Sketchup competition draft!
    Which do you prefer?
