Sadly, no goodies for me .... apart from having to replace a seized Arctic Freezer Pro fan (that's the second one in the last few months) :miffed:

Turns out I didn't destroy my BIOS by flashing it, so I'm happy with that. :D

Nope although I just treated myself to a new 2TB (upgradeable to 6) file server for the house, complete with hot swap SATA II bays. What's also nice is that it's whisper quiet :)

It's a beefed up Dell dimension mate :p Budget closet server cheesecake! Specs are here. Still on the lookout for a good raid card, for now I've just got a cheapy one installed but it'll have to be upgraded sometime in Janurary because I intend on adding more 1TB hard drives and Hot Swap functionality.

Ahhhh you have done sort of what what I've done, I have an E8400 (not OC'd for once!) on a Asus P5K with a mirrored pair of 500GB WD 'raid edition' HDD's on an Adaptec 1430SA Raid card running 2003 small business server with 2 x 1TB and 2 x 1.5TB's for storage :D

This is the only machine I don't fold on as I run 3 VM's on it! Need to look into decently priced raid hot-swap sometime though but no hurry!

Nice, home built servers are awesome :) I love my Icybox hot swap bays although like I said I haven't got a raid card that supports it installed yet. Fancy posting a couple or pics or even the spec of yours in the Server thread?

I'll be buying/ building a 2U rackmount file server for the farm cabinet when I get it in at the other house next year as well :) So tempted to add more and more drives to mine now, and I even have a dual core A64 and microATX board sitting in the workshop for it but I want to keep heat and noise to a minimum therefore number and speed of fans to a minimum so I'm not going to bother. My VMs are going to have to run on the 2U rackmount in the server room, where noise isn't a concern ;) The little Dell is just a NAS & Media server.

I've got a Crucial M225 128GB SSD and a second GTX 260 (second had), should give me a nice boost.

Have replied in the server thread mate with some pics :D

I had a triple 3.5" HDD hot swap bay (cant remember make) that used 2 x 5.25"bays and even though it has a fairly noisy 80mm fan on the back the drives always used to get too hot which is why I have a Seagate 1TB down at the moment so I ditched the hot swap bay and just internally mounted them for now...
