    Great idea for a thread!

    Sony Vaio PCV-120!

Played Diablo, SC and WC2 on it.. Sony had some insane software installed on it.. So much fun.. In 02(?) I got a new PC, some Dell with 2GB RAM and a 3.0GHz P4 Prescott (~$3000 total).

I got into PCs two years later, and cried for a very long time about my poor choices..

    Pshaw.

Right now all I have actually working is the sig "pc". ;-(

I cant remember 100% but around that time I know I was going from a 200Mhz MMX Pentium chip to my newer rig as my parents split.

I approve of this thread, really interesting to think about it :thumb:

    2000:
    Self built
Cyrix 686 233 Processor (which ran at 187MHz, damn PR ratings)
32MB ram, think it was the old 32 pin SIMM stuff (?)
ATI Rage II AGP 8MB Graphics card
    8x CD ROM
    2GB HDD
Some random AT case I had kicking about
    15 inch CRT screen
    Windows 95/Redhat Linux dual boot

    2010
    Self Built
    Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 (4 x 2.33GHz)
    4GB Corsair Ram
GeForce 7200 GS 256MB Graphics (I don't play games on this)
    16x Sata DVD Re-Writer
    320GB Sata HDD
    Asus Vento Case
    2 x 22 inch LCD screens
Ubuntu Linux 9.04 (keep meaning to upgrade to 9.10

On an (un)interesting side note, I discovered overclocking before I knew what it was, as when I saw that my CPU was running at 187MHz I assumed the manual had told me to set up up wrong, so I moved a couple of jumpers and had it running stable at 233, thinking that was how it was meant to run  didn't discover the meaning of PR ratings 'til a few years later.

Powermac G4 (Gigabit Ethernet model), was the bottom end 400MHz model. I think that at 128MB of memory...though I can't quite remember.

That was then followed by the legendary in design, but epic fail in sales, G4 Cube. 20Gig drive, I think 128MB of memory (I don't remember if I upgraded this one to 256 or not...). All with a 2001 model 15" Apple Studio Display (still owned, currently sitting next to the PC with a G4 Quicksilver 733MHz, with 512MB of memory), Apple Pro Mouse (still owned, not used), Apple Pro Keyboard (have a last gen white one, very, very nice keyboard still), and Apple Pro Speakers (not the Harman Kardons).

    Lot's of Pro...very little pro.

As for my current system...see sig.

Although I don't remember exactly in 2000 (or shortly after) we had an XPS system that I think was in the XPS B series. If I remember correctly it had a PIII at 900Mhz or a little higher, a Geforce Ti4200 and 256mb of RAM.

Oh, the days I spent playing Colin McRae Rally 2 on that.

    Ti4200(2002) and P3 900Mhz(early 2000) don't exactly match age-wise. You must be mixing something

The Ti4200 was an incredible card though. It was the same as the 6600GT or the 9500Pro; good price for great performance
