I picked up a 2.66 Ghz P4 on the Bay of E this summer for $7 US. to replace my 1.8. May be worth your efforts on that front.

(BTW It is streaming Netflix nicely with a 6200)

I looked into the the bios setting online and this board appears to be overclockable. I will probably be raising the FSB around 100 mhz and the CPU clock to 2.3 ghz. The next OC would be the shaders in the GPU if temperatures permit. Now if only I could water cool both...
I'd put a 2x120 rad on the bottem of the case with some san aces.

Get ready...(yes the wood is really orange, but the flash amplified it.)
I got an idea for the top: How about a solid copper heat sink? It would have channels milled on the back with water circulating. In turn making it a giant radiator.

I'm in a little bit of a pickle here. I can't make up my mind on the orientation of the case.
I like having it vertical as the orange stripe gives a "look at me, I'm powerful."
Have the case horizontal looks kind of odd like "I'm a jelly bean!"
So, I'm curious as to what you guys think looks best.

I'd go with vertical, it looks really good.

Well, I like the standard vertical orientation, but a horizontal would like almost classic being made of wood.

If I was making the decision right now, I'd say vertical. Finding enough room to lay a computer horizontally can be as much of a challenge as actually building it.

I guess it will be standing next to the tv. It just looks fat sitting under neath it on a shelf. I looked at prices for a block of copper and almost shat brix. If I am going to water cool it I will be using a 2X120mm rad with black or smoked acrilic sides to give the case a more modern look. I have a car heater core that could probably cool a gtx 295 to about room temperature, but it's 4 cm too big, maybe I'll mod it.

    Definately vertical. :)
The paduk will make it stand out. Laying it horizontal i would think that i would look like its taking up much space.
    Nice work there :thumb:
imho i would have made more space between the joints. But thats just a matter of taste i guess. Lets se what it looks like when theyre all grinded down :)

Keep your project alive ! :D
Anyhow, im rolling of to the workshop, progressing on mine

I will, I just finished hacking up a heater core in the garage so it'll fit.
I'll do you one better Bad_Cancer, I'm going to solder my radiator back together.

Well, I took a shot at soldering the radiator today, and I'm kind of disappointing. I've made up my mind on this one, I will be brazing it. Once I get my acetylene tank refilled I'll be brazing it. I will probably be putting it together on Monday. Here are some pictures for you guys to enjoy.

Scratch the idea of brazing, I beveled the pieces of copper tubing shaped like U's and used a malet to wedge them in place. Then finished it off with some solder. The solder was wicked into the joints thanks to capilary action. I leak tested it and all is good. I will straighten the fins and paint it black once it gets warmer outside. Now all I need for the water cooling:
    Pump
    Reservoir
    Tubing
    Water Blocks
    Fittings

Here is the radiator next to the matx motherboard for a visual size comparison.
    The radiators dimensions are 300x100x100mm
    [IMG]
Here is one of the soldered joints I used a heat-gun/paint stripper cause I'm out of propane.

Turned on the kerosene heater and did some painting.
The radiator looks so much better.

Today I made the fan mounting plate. I got some L channel aluminum and riveted it together then painted it enamel spray paint. So, now I have a triple thick 3x120mm rad.

Well, over a week has passed since I have sent out sponsorship request (am I not legit?) You know, I think I'll make my own. I need to send in an order for a small bar of copper. I'll see you next update

I got this chunk of copper from my uncle. Its a 1200 amp spot welder bus bar. I cut off a square chunk which I will mill out tomorrow. I have also rethought the peltier idea. I will be saving that for another build. Enough talking here are some pictures.

I have the lines drawn to give me the most room possible for the water block.

Looks like the copper was cut with a water jet.

Someone here is poised to knock me off my 'clunkiest P4 waterblock ever' perch. That's a serious chunk of copper! I think you owe your Uncle a birthday present.

-Also... How did you enjoy that hacksaw workout?:hehe:
