Build Advice Any technical issues with this build?

    Ok, some of you may remember a few months ago me talking about making my new build for a gaming rig. Well after a long, tedious period of research I have decided on the following parts; and I would like you guys to look it over and let me know if there are any incompatibility issues or cheaper alternatives that I have missed :D

    Btw, my main aim is a decent gaming rig that is more or less futur-proof(...for now;)) my budget is around £400

    Mobo: MSI 770-C45
    Case: Silverstone PS02B
    RAM: Corsair DDR3 (2x2GB)
    PSU: Corsair cx400w
    Fan: Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro v2
    Gfx: Either Gainward Geforce GTX 896MB OR Radeon HD 4770
    CPU: AMD Athlon II x2

    These are pretty much decided on so if they all work together ok then I will go with them, but if something there doesn't go with something else then please let me know.

    Cpu in above is much more capable, if your budget can stretch to a 5770 as well, the above system will trash the one you listed, however if you can't you've chosen some pretty good components there.

    your system looks fine and i would definatly go for the 260 over the 4770

    Ok, just to clarify, it my be because I am being completely dense, when you guys are talking about the '260' and '4770' and '5770'...what is it you are refering to?

    Re-reading this I presume the gfx card?

    I would go with the GTX as well, if you could get an intel i3 or a Athlon II 3.10GHz then you'd be gravy :)

    EDIT: yes the GFX cards

    ok, thnx all for the input. I will take all this into account and will definitely go with that gfx card as, like you said, it is better and quite a bit cheaper

    If your budget can stand it upgrading the Athlon II X2 to a Phenom II X2 would be a good move.

    drivers

    One thing I do need to get sorted before I make my decision in terms of gfx cards... How easy is it to get hold of drivers for that last gfx card suggested - scanfx HD. I am using an Nvidia card at the mo and am very impressed with their driver distribution and was wondering where it is I get hold of the drivers for that particular card.

    If anyone knows the answer to this could they please let me know.

    just go to the ati website and download the drivers there. product line is 'radeon' and the product model is the 'hd 4890 series'.

    I don't think there is a big difference between ati and nvidea driver distribution wise.

    One last thing, if I was to change from the processor I had originally in my list to the phenom II X2 BE, would the 400W PSU still be sufficient?

    yeah, i guess so. if you really want to be sure, you should google 'psu calculator', denote your components and it will tell you what you need to know.

    EDIT: it is a bit frowned upon here to double-post. edit your last post if you forgot something. like i do now :d

    It should be ok at stock. You will be working the PSU fairly hard if you overclock.

    I have assumed 1 HDD and 1 optical drive.
