Thats a 5 minute walk from my house In fact, beaches are so common here in Singapore that I end up in cold countries like yours when I go on holiday
One from the weekend down at Seaford in East Sussex... I used a strange combination of filters - a Straw soft grad (with 0.3ND) held at a 45-60 degree angle to enhance the sea and redness of the afterglow a little as well as a 0.6 ND grad SE resting on the horizon.
@Tim I love that Last week one of my friends decided to do this to his hair. Then again, he enters National Service on Friday so its all going to be gone in less than a week
@Tim, the horizon is out by 0.06degrees I think I was just looking for something wrong out of jealously. You have some serious skills with filters.
The eye that is closer to the viewer needs to be in focus. Personally, I don't mind so much if one of them is out of the dof to an extent, but, if that's gonna happen, whatever is of importance, that's closes to the viewer, has to be in focus.
Thanks guys! Haha, dammit! Thanks though - a lot of the filter work just came from experimenting. I take a lot of photos, but most of them don't end up going much further than my hard drive. The great thing about digital is that it doesn't cost you much (if anything) to take loads of photos - it's not like everything has to be developed/printed. I think he did get me - I've gone down with the lurgy since getting back!
I'm not a landscape fan..... I'm more into shots that have narrative and subtexts... I read Barthes and Derrida for fun, and tend to like like fine art, and fashion, and weird stuff like Keith Arnett LOL..... but damn!... that's a nice shot. Just as a technical exercise that rocks, but it oozes mood. I want to be there... now. Respect Tim.
Really nice shot, but was that purpley colour cast on the water intentional? I usually love the colours in your landscapes, but that just seems a little....well, odd.
If red wine was your drug, and you lived in Johannesburg; this would be your dealer. Iona, the crazy wine lady. And this is a jewelry store owner, Tanya. Well, co-owner. The other owner is the designer. Fantastic gemstones and great workmanship. I've had almost all my wife's rings re-set and updated. And quite a few custom pieces made from my late grandmothers stones. Just some stuff for fun to update the portfolio.
Thanks Pook - it was a great sunset and evening, but it was bloody cold by the time I headed back to my car! Thanks, the colour cast wasn't in any way intentional - I used the straw filter to enhance the water's colours a bit. I made some selective curves adjustments in Photoshop but, aside from a bit of a colour/contrast punch, I didn't do any colour correction. So, in essence, you could say it was intentional because I left it (mostly) how the camera sensor recorded it. Thanks!
