toyomatt, sounds like a clever idea, but it's probably to hard for my modding skills.

I plan to use the scrap metal from the cut outs to make other designs that will go in those 2 windows(glued to the acrylic).

All it takes is a drill, some metal/plastic arms for Remote Control Car servos, some Rheostat's, a connecting arm, and some hot glue (cause you can glue the Rheostats to anything.). I don't see how it's too tough for ya', you already made some difficult mods.

toyo, If I did it that way the lights on the "eq" would not work.
I like the idea but, it seems more of a pain to rig it up that way.

I probably will forget about the "eq"
    thaks for the input.

Still waiting for the mobo. The local pc shop was of no help. They just tried to sell me one of their computers.

Here is what I've been up to.
Getting ready to epoxie the fan to the duct. I tried to superglue it, but the pvc dosen't like the glue. I will also epoxie the disconnect to the duct so that I can remove and install the cover.

About your fan in the tube. I am working on doing this same thing. Instead of gluing the supports to the surrounding tube, extend the legs of the supports slightly and mount them into the tube. Get what I mean?

Extend the legs slightly (using some aluminum or brass tubing) then cut notches in the base of the surrounding tube. Mount the legs in the notches with a little bit of epoxy, then put some edge guard on the tube to help hold it into place. Thats my plan anyway. Can't believe I am revealing it. :duh:

Yea I get it. The deeper you make the cuts, the closer the fan is toward the front.
Sounds like a very good idea.I only wish I thought of that before I cut the fan supports.
If I ever do it again I'll do it your way.
    Thanks for the tip.

Looking for help and inspiration to finish an old project. Any tips on components and other projects to get ideas from would be great. Have got to find another lamp as the second one fell and broke too. So far I'm leaning toward an asus 730i mobo. Is there a better one out there?
BTW my knowledge of computers is prob. worse now then before. I'd really appreciate the help.
    Thanks

Glad to see you came back after so long.
Gigabyte has some blue motherboards that would go well with the liquid in the next lamp you get, if you want to stay with that color.
