I am looking to upgrade my monitor to somthing quite large, I only have about £300 to spend. Anyone any views on this lot or any other suggestions. By the way I am mainly a gamer. http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-055-IY&utm_source=froogle http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/26-I...r-1920x1200-10001-300-cd-m-2-ms-Speakers-VESA http://www.ebuyer.com/product/166918 http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/prods/Monitors/26inchplusMonitors/NOV-L
The ebuyer link is an LCDTV, I'd bin that for a start. You're paying for hardware in there that you won't use -> quality is less than a similarily priced monitor. What are your priorities? Size? Pixels? Any thoughts on aspect ratio?
Priorites? Hadn't given it much thought. Size? as big as I can gat and I think wide screen.I can probably push my budget to £400. So looking for suggestions in light of the increase budget. Thanks.
Your priorities should be image quality first and size second. Remember you have to look at the damned thing for a long time and size pretty quickly becomes unimportant if you can't stand looking at the screen. BTW, the LG M2794DP at Ebuyer isn't an LCD tv as such. It's a monitor with a tuner. There's a subtle difference. Personally I'd not buy any of the monitors listed. I'd suggest the Dell U2410, but that's about £450.
Bigger than 24" pushes you towards Dell country. The 24" Ultrasharp is one of the best. Bigger probably means a 27"? http://www.ebuyer.com/search?limit=50&store=5&cat=12&subcat=2097&sort=pricelow&page=1 Pick one you like, and google for reviews. http://accessories.euro.dell.com/sna/category.aspx?c=uk&category_id=6761&cs=ukdhs1&l=en&s=dhs Same again.
Unless your going to get the new 27" ips dell, or a dell 3008 (both of which are well over budget) i dont see the point in getting a monitor bigger than 24", all the affordable 27/30" monitors only have the same res as a 24".
After much research and heeding many suggestions and finding one for £370 I have decided to go for the Dell U2410 UltraSharp 24". Thanks all.
Hi Kronos... If this price includes VAT and UK delivery, where did you find it ? Unless I've missed something, cheapest UK price delivered I can find is £413 from http://www.pcbuyit.co.uk/product_info.php?manufacturers_id=&products_id=822 I also want a 16:10 screen and am planning on the Dell U2410, but as part of your research, did you find any other decent 1920x1200 screens at a similar (or lower) price? Thanks
I got mine from Ebay, http://computers.shop.ebay.co.uk/Mo...p=&_pcats=58058&_ssov=1&_trksid=p3286.c0.m282 and as to you second question, it really depends on what you want, there are plenty of 242 16:10 monitors out there but I think the Dell is about the best at the moment.
If you've recently bought a U2410 and are unaware of possible 'dithering' artifacts, perhaps you should see .... http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/news_archive/19.htm#dell_firmware ...read through to 'More info' at the bottom, and have a look at the numerous posts under ..... Dell Support Forms Thread. Sorry to be a spoilsport.
That's good - bet you're relieved ! BTW - In my recent post, yes, I was asking about other 24" screens. There are indeed quite a few 16:10s about, but unless you do a specific search on 24"+16:10 - or similar, you have to trawl through many more 16:9s before you find a half-decent 16:10. Did you consider any 24" 16:10 alternatives to the U2410? Pity about the HP LP2475w, it gets a very good review in TFT Central and pricewise it's now close to the U2410, but I read that some units have issues with hum/tinting/eyestrain when working with text. And it hasn't the zero faulty pixel policy that the Dell has.
Apart from the HP LP2475w I looked at the LG W2452TX but couldn't find many reviews. But very happy with the dell. Paid 390 quid but worth it.
Thanks for the info on the LG W2452TX and will investigate but, as you say, the U2410 is a good screen.
