Looks all pretty standard. But looks can be deceiving.

So bit of specs: GTX 470 1280mb GDDR5 & GTX 480 1536mb GDDR5

 

Looks pretty cool, and that's quite a bit of memory for a consumer card.

I'd buy one..If I knew how well it performed.

 

Word on the street is they're on par with the 5870's - but just more expensive. nVidia seems to be emphasizing the CUDA elements of the card more than anything.

Its mainly due to the huge amounts of memory they slap on the Quadro FX line, just double the memory on a top end Geforce card and you get top end Quadro FX.

Seriously that's all that is different, GPU bios tweak to handle OpenGl acceleration as well as a few other things, and increase the price by a factor of 10.

I just hope fermi isn't a Nvidia 5 series flop.

seems like there the only one left that honour NDA's which is why I enjoy there reviews, its all by the book!

 

My post was more of an exasperated call to finally put an end to rumours and get some facts flowing. Especially these last two weeks people end up treating every rumour as fact, which makes for some really messy fanboi fights. People claiming to have been right all along and all that.

I just hope that nVidia skips the 'paper launch' mess this time as well. Even limited supply beats having to wait another month for cards

 

Psst, I heard the licence terms for Fermi requires you to sell your with and children into an east african mining colony.

In the video the 480gtx is the same as the 5870 until the heavy tessellation starts then it pulls away.

 

I'll still wait, those price drops alone on the ATi cards are worth it!

 

Ill believe it when someone other then Nvidia uses more than a benchmark that works perfectly for the situation that the Nvidia is trying to display. Meaning when BT does the review and its hard facts based on multiple games and benchmarks from a non biasd point of view.
