There were anti-aliasing benchmarks posted for Crysis at maximum and unplayable settings. Why isn't there any anti-aliasing being done at the lower resolutions of Stalker: Call of Pripyat? Why are we stuck between 4x AA and 0x AA on the other benchmarks?

nvidia once again dissapoints. IMHO they have been running a losing race since ATI released the 4XXX series. AMD seems to be doing well in GPU's, maybe they need to focus more on CPU now and make it a market leader!

damn it's exactly what I thought it was going to be.. 6 months

just shrink it and you'll have something.. 100w more, costs more.. doesn't even beat a 5870 in crysis XD whatever :D

Well, the wait is over and we now face disappointment :(. So much for a 5-10FPS increase in Crysis.

I'm now considering buying a couple of 5970s for some crossfire action - the 4GB models can't be that far off now.

Anyhoo, I'm going to bed. See you guys later.

I wonder if the universal dissapointment in this card will force the price down, at it's current price their is no competition anyone with any sense is going to get a 5870.

One less reason to go out this summer. Just buy a GTX 480, switch on your computer, and you'll get summer temperatures all year round. Excellent. Nvidia should use this in their marketing :)

Looks like ATI can safely jack up the 5870 price by $100 :p

I'm about as underwhelmed as I thought I'd be. The only thing about this which I don't like is that, considering how the GTX470/480 fare against the HD58x0/5970, I probably won't get a cheap HD5850 any time soon... Bummer.

    Two conclusions

    1) Simply buy a 5970
    2) never buy one of those anemic PSU's recommended all too often in tech sites.

Here're a quick couple of suggestions for the nVidia marketing team:

GTX480/470 - It's the hottest game in town!

GTX480/470 - It's time to make some noise!

    GTX480/470 - Nuclear-powered!

here's a thought, don't be too harsh on them (not the review, the comments) considering ATI had exactly same issue with their 2900XT.

remember? too hot, too much power and 2900XT didn't even perform!

480 performed well, and with tessellation unit in each processing cluster, it will be able to stand test of time better than 5000 series when Dx11 games gets rolled out.

My heart sinks. Performance is there, but the price will never be. Therefore ATI will cream us on price till the die-shrinks come along.

Side note: launch drivers vs. 6-month-old drivers, the last one being a moawr pwer driver. Im just sayin........

DX10 is pants tho. You'd be a fool to enable it in Crysis at least.

The fact that nVidia is launching 6 months behind isn't ATis fault....

To everyone saying "but these are early drivers!!!", FERMI IS 6 MONTHS LATE REMEMBER! TMSC might have been having issues getting chips out but Nvidia's driver team have probably been working their bollox off to make up for the lower initial clocks.

" at this stage Fermi looks like a flop"

flops have never EVER got 9/10 for performance.

I thinks I'll be hanging onto my GTX295. All those "Should I wait for Fermi" threads.... all for naught. Disappointed.
