I'm looking for the best performing HDD at a price point around 70 pounds. I've been meaning to buy the Spinpoint F3 1TB as it seems to perform really well in the SSD comparisons. Size isn't really an issue beyond ~250GB as all my work files are on a NAS. I work in After Effects and on a Mac Pro.. if that's any help Any suggestions? The Raptor drives perhaps? A 200GB SSD (how do they fare with junk collection and macs?)? Thanks!
a) you wont get a 200gb SSD for 70 pounds b) you wont get a specialised speedy HD for 70 pounds (ie a velociraptor etc) Spinpoint F3 is a great HD, but id be tempted into getting one of those new Intel V series SSDs (40gb ones) for around 80-90 quid to use as a scratch disk.
He he yeah I reckoned 70 quid wouldn't get me 200GB SSD The thing is I need to use the purchased disk as my primary drive so an SSD below 150-200GB is no option and price pretty much excludes it anyway. I can always get the SSD for scratch disk in the future. But great input. Thanks. Seeing as I'm already on 16GB RAM and all out of cash except for 70 pounds then the F3 is my best bet for a new primary disk?
