If I recall correctly then :- ISA - Trident (can't remember the model) I did have another ISA card but can't recall what it was; must have been 'real' good PCI - Matrox Mystique 2Mb (still have it) PCI - Matrox Millenium G2 8Mb (still have it) AGP - ATI 9700Pro 128Mb (still have it, with bodged fan and heatsink) AGP - ATI 9800XT VIVO 256Mb (still have it) PCIe - Nvidia 8400GS 512Mb (still have it) PCIe - Nvidia 8800GTS 512Mb (died, 'oven fix' didn't) PCIe - Nvidia GTS250 1Gb (current)
I started out with a Riva TNT2, was a great card at the moment, gave me a whole lot of fun back in the days when the NFS-series was still worth playing. Here's a semi-complete list of my gpu-history since the tnt2: - Nvidia Gefore 3 Ti 500 - ATI Radeon 9700 Pro - ATI Radeon 9800 Pro - ATI Radeon X800XT - ATI Radeon X800XT PE - Nvidia Geforce 8800 GTS - Nvidia Geforce 8800 Ultra - ATI Radeon 4870 512Mb
baring the awful 8mb SIS onboard graphics of my first PC (games actually ran faster with software rendering than using the GPU ) My first card was a 32mb *PCI* S3 Savage 4
-Geforce 2 Mx400 -Geforce 4 Ti4400 [gap, cos Geforce 4 was very fast] -ATI Radeon x800GTO -ATI Radeon x1650Pro (damn shaders) [gap cos don't have PCIe] -8800GTX -GTX260 and ATI 5870 judging my that pattern, next would be an ATI mid-range
My first PC was in 97 when I left school, I was running a 3DFX Voodoo Rush. Its mad how only 13 years have passed and the GFX cards are unbeleiveable now!!!
Creative GeForce Ti 4200 (whereabouts unknown) -> Gainward FX 5600 (still working in my parents pc) -> BFG 6600gt (gathering dust in its box)-> XFX 7800gt (still working in a friends pc) -> PNY 8800gt (my current card)
First card was a Voodoo 3 of some variety Nvidia Geforce 3 ATI Radeon 9700 Pro which nearly set fire to my PC from a dodgy power connector, although an awesome card ATI Radeon X800 XT ATI 3870 X2 AT 4870 X2 followed about 6 months after my 3870X2 - was not impressed with that card
TNT2, Voodoo 3 3000, ATI 9200, ATI 9700 Pro, GTX 8800, GTX 210, GTX 4830 ( Yes i have gone backwards at some point along the line, however, with the games i play i see no need to upgrade 4830 does DirectX10.1 and framerates are fine.. i have headphones also so the noise isn't a problem)
nVIDIA P73CR - Dell-supplied passively-cooled junk but could run HL2 and Hitman 2 passably. Thank God for my PSX and PS2... Sapphire ATI Radeon 9600XT 128MB - Not too bad but by this point AGP was frickin' ancient. I needed a new computer, which just happened to come with... XFX GTX-280 - Which is wonderful in every way.
Assuming this pertains to the first one I personally bought.. GeForce 9600GSO 512. And I'm still using it since it's part of the first computer I built for me. I really wish I had gotten the regular 9600GSO though. It works pretty well for what I do, but I want to upgrade because what I do can be done better.
some of you can probably remember the token ring networks.. what a joke that was XD but it was the only way to play some doom and took 15 hours to transfer 200 megs that's if some a hole wasn't hogging the token XD
Amiga 500 - Gauntlet/R-Type then jumped ship to PC 3dfx Voodoo 2 Matrox Millenium 2 GeForce 400 ATI X850XT GTX280 RMA'd for a 285 Ah the heady days of Doom, Half Life and Unreal!
If you're going to be like that: Commodore C16/+4 Commodore 64 Commodore Amiga 1200 Matrox Millennium II Orchid Righteous 3D 4MB Matrox Millennium G400 MAX Gainward GeForce 3 "Golden Sample" (Pre Ti and numbered releases) Acer Built-In GeForce Go! 5700FX Gigabyte GeForce 9600GT That's where I stand at the moment.
Ahh i'm just one of the many Voodoo 3 bitches. 3000 iirc. I'm sure that's still hiding about the place somewhere too.
Voodoo Banshee here. First hybrid 3D/2D card on a PCI Bus. When that died I got a Geforce2 MX something Then a Radeon 9500 Pro (with the 9700 hack, good times) Radeon X800 Pro Nv 7950GT Nv 8800GT Nv GTX260 I think that's the exhaustive list of cards I've had. I do like to try and keep them as long as I can The GF had: GF 4 Ti 4xxx (cant remember the model exactly) Radeon 9600 Radeon 9700 Pro Radeon X800 Pro Radeon X1950 8800GT Radeon HD 5770
850XT < that thing is noisy. It kept me up at night lol. I could only download things during the day. I swore never to get such a noisy card again. Though I have to say after trying to sleep with that card a lot. I can now sleep to any amount of noise.
