Now I've read it here plenty of times, but I wasn't aware that changing the cooler on a garphics card voided the warranty. I'm pretty certain at least that when I changed the cooler on my Inno3D 8800GT I didn't break any warranty stickers.

They're not there, but if you damage the card you need to put back the reference cooler back in such a way that it will look like it wasn't tempered with. Otherwise the manfactuter will refuse the refund

When I put a Zalman water block on my 8800GTX the temps droped from 80-85c (under load) to about 55-60c, and I also have an overclocked e6600 on the same loop. I am completely sold when it comes to watercooling, but I imagine there will be quite a healthy price hike too.

This is the only way to have a proper GTX480... But of course, if a GTX480 is already expensive than these will be 100-150€ more

I assume that these will be even more expensive than a HD5970?

Looks good but it will be an awful lot of money for something that isn't even the quickest card (something which could be said about the standard GTX480 - uk shafting, sorry pricing only).

That is a Bitspower block, right? They do make a nice block but I like the look of Ek blocks a lot more.

I have the same assumption as pizan, a Bitspower block, at least has quality behind the cooler manufacturing process

I'm assuming they're still using a double slot backplate due to the rather unfortunate weight of this card. I remember how years ago, some of the danger den blocks came with a clear acrylic strut... this may be a necessary accessory again soon.

EVGA's watercooled 480 costs $650, thats not so bad imho, but I guess it will cost a lot more overe here..

@Tulatin: And they come with a single slot backplate :) don't know about the Inno3D ones though.

Newegg.com has the HD5970 placed at $700, though all are out of stock and demand is likely raising prices, but that's not a half bad price there for the 480. If you're already forgetting about price/performance and going for raw power you may as well get a watercooled GTX480 and take it even further...

I don't know much, but I *do* know that "Freezer" and "GTX470" or "GTX480" don't belong in the same sentence. :p

alu will never go in my loop - so if this is an alu block they're obviously after WC nabs who don't know better and still think TT is the king. . .

If all you cre about is raw power then why would you forgo the HD5970 for the slower GTX480?
(Unless you mean specifically for CUDA?).
