I suggest switching over early enough that at least one WU completes before the official starting time. Then checkout the names and team numbers so that any typos are caught early.

At the magic hour of starting, Stanford takes a 'snapshot' of the stats, and measurement of the teams' progress is calculated from the snapshot. So it doesn't matter if you complete WUs before the official start.

Also, change your Windows Update settings to prevent your machine rebooting at 3 a.m. and then doing nothing whilst it waits for a login with password.

You can avoid this by amending the password control to auto logon following a reboot and with a short cut in Startup Folder point to the relevant exe's = no points lost!

Is there anyway to get the SMP client folding without adding a password? It really drives me mad.

You need a password, however you can set the PC to log in automatically with the password for you

Yes, and that unit will then be credited to the new name. A small risk of failure for most clients, but as usual -bigadv and A3 are not so robust.

I always thought the new username only started getting credited from the following work unit  Was planning on switching over the bigadv rigs days early but it's good news if this isn't necessary.

On another note I found this debrief/planning thread from last year whilst it was all still fresh in our minds. Some good thoughts including the need for an early start to hit the ground running. Also a great ready made pic courtesy of Votick :thumb: Until we have something official, I've temporarily updated my dull avatar to get me in the right spirit and potentially spread the word.

    Hello from MaximumPC

I didn't see a response to my latest thread
    and things are moving along

Overclock.net started a forum for captains to work out the rules and discussion has started
I only found out about it this morning

I didn't read your threads in detail, if your have a captain selected and he doesn't already know how to access the rules discussion forum PM me and I'll get him on board with a link.

I did read one post where someone asked if your team has a chance to win?

It would appear that EVGA will win based on team ppd and their enthusiasm

The real race will be between teams within a reasonably distance of each other.

A team can make up for a million ppd +/- difference with more enthusiasm

If you can say I had fun, my team had the biggest month in their year and we got some new folders, your team won.

I'll place this here and my post and hope your captain sees it soon

Er, so are we CustomBitChimps or CUSTOMBITCHIMPS ~ in other words, are team names case sensitive?

OK, same problem as last year - how can we get folders who don't visit the forums to join up? Or, all the thousands of viewers who look at the messages?

The user name is now officially "CustomBitChimps" exactly how I have put in there.

Links are below to check the progress now I've registered it, I've got a key and im running a few A3 WU's etc as you need 10 WU's completed using a key before you can get the bonus on the Bigadv etc...

    http://fah-web.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/main.py?qtype=userpage&username=custombitchimps
    http://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/user_summary.php?s=&u=510009

I am discussing the final rules etc with the other captains and will come back and let you all know exactly what's going on in the near future :)

    Cheers,
    Rob. :thumb:
