    Hey Everyone,

I am trying to rip the DVD's from the Stargate: SG1 boxed set, so that I can watch them without needing the disks. To rip them i am using Leawo DVD ripper, but it cannot read the disk for some reason, keeps saying that it is an invalid DVD video disk directory.

Has anyone else had this problem with a DVD, and how did you work around it?

Btw, the disks play fine in VLC

Chances are it has protected sectors.

    Things you'll need:
    - DVD Decrypter
    - DVD Shrink (make sure DVD shrink doesn't parse the files)
    - AutoGK
    - RipIt4Me

    Prefered workflow:
    RipIt4Me > DVD Decrypter > DVD Shrink > AutoGK

I hope I'm not in violation of forum rules. If I am, feel free to delete my post.

    MakeMKV all the way.

Everything else is just too much hassle, couldn't be bothered to rip my 150+ DVD collection until I found about MakeMKV. A bloody brilliant program. So far only Casino Royale in my collection has been too tough for it, so I left it alone.

One more thing. MakeMKV turns the DVD's into mkv files that are pretty big 1g+ for a 40 min video, does anyone know a program that can convert from mkv to avi?

    NVM found one

Why use RipIt4Me and DVD Shrink?

DVD Decrypter -> AutoGK is all you need.

I had better start trying some of these to see what I like.

I like frogs so am tempted to try krikkit's line but I like monkeys too, so Votick has a vote. Hmmm...ah, Auto GK seems to do DivX so I think I'll start with that (for dvd player compatibility).

I only use that workflow when the DVD has protected sectors (once in a blue moon, but it does happen), otherwise, I go directly from DVD Decrypter to AutoGK.

Is your dvd encrypted one? Your dvd ripper may not support commercial dvds. U need a dvd ripper which can decrypt and then rip your dvd off from disc. Im using Pavtube Blu-ray Ripper which can rip any protected DVDs and copy to my harddrive.
Hope good luck with u too.

I think they are encrypted, but MakeMKV is able to decrypt and copy the files to the harddrive, so I am a happy camper :D

Turns out the conversion from .mkv don't work so well, once it has been converted, the image don't scale up like it does with the .mkv files.

Does anyone know a converter where this problem does not exist, or is it because I have not set the right config options?

DVD Shrink still works well for me. I then use Badaboom to use the GPU to make mp4's for my iphone or PSP.
