I love the fan installation - other heatsink manufacturers should adopt that method rather than the pesky rubber nipples or the wires but as for the rest that this cooler offers, meh - promising though but not practical.

 

Aww.. I was looking forward to this review, but it is sadly disappointing.

 

Seems like they made the contact block far too thick.

 

£98 and it doesn't come with fans.... seriously?!

Why would anyone buy this over something like the H50 or Fenrir?!

Its too expensive to go up against Air coolers (including the H50 for arguements sake) and too crap to go up against a proper water cooling loop (which is similarly priced).

 

It has proved that the concept works though, it just needs some refinement

 

Not £100 worth of cooling. I'm not hanging 1.1kg of my motherboard. For that price (as stated) you can start looking at water cooling.

 

I applaud Danamics for trying something new, and I only hope other companies are watching this and refine their designs based on this (the fan mounting system is a stroke of genius!). I reckon a few refined versions and this could become quite a nice option for cooling.

I had it beating the LMX (before supperleggra) XG H1216 (Same as Alpenfohn) by 5C and the Xigmatec Thor's Hammer by 2C and beaten by RS240, XSPC Delta V3 & 750lph XSPC Dual Bay Pump/Res by 5C.

We have had problems with V8 coolers shacking lose in transit so I can imagine the damage it could cause.

Make it lighter, make the base direct core contact and improve the fin arrangement and it could draw level with water cooling price/performance. For now it is for those who want something different.

 

I think direct heat pipe contact (like the fenrir) would push the temps much further down.
Maybe there will be a V.2 or something.

Don't underestimate the desire of Pc nerds to show everyone that they have the biggest and best in their cases..

Think of all those sexy photos they can post on the message boards of fellow nerds and all the admiring love in comments it will draw from fellow nerds.....ePeeN RuLeZ....

If only it's as good as a WC setup with a 240 rad lol..
I would exchange it with my current WC..

 

I think we all would! Sadly while the tech really does work (we unplugged the power while it was working to check - temps shot up) the price/benefit ratio just doesn't pay off.

They won't have the best but the newest. Their is no bigger pleasure for a geek that explaining how complicated is the new "technologie" he just installed in his PC.

 

they waited to long, they needed to release this during the 775 socket era but now all the other cooler companies have improved on their performance so this didnt fair to well but still a neat concept.

 

reminds me of metal cooled nuclear subs. Nice in theory but in practice rather rubbish.

So this cooler clearly does *something*, is it a rubbish attempt at something which will take cooling by force, or is it destined to always be a bit meh?

 

At the end of the day the weakest point of the cooling system is always going from the heatsink to the air around it. You can only improve that by having more surface area and blowing more air over it. Heatsinks have largely gotten to the point where you just arent going to get any better without making it even bigger or having 2 high speed large fans.
