    I never really got to test out my blocks because my mobo died. Right now there packed away to ether be sold to a friend or for a future build.

    I'm guessing the temps would be around room temperature due to the radiators size (300mm x 300mm x 100mm)

    That Gpu block looks Real heavy! Doesn't it stress the card?

    Otherwise its really good. :thumb:

    Good call on using the RTV automotive silicone. The aquarium stuff failed on me.

    Thanks, I actually think the tubing was holding it up to some extent. Those PCI cards are actually pretty strong. I couldn't see any flexing in the board. I'm going to fire up that computer again with a different power supply and see if it'll work.

    Update time

    Completing the Waterblocks

    I had some free time so I decided to seal up those water blocks and bolt them together.

    My first plan was to tap the copper and then bolt the plastic to the copper with silicone sealer.

    But try as I might with the tap in hand, I couldn’t thread the holes in the copper. In the acrylic it was pretty easy, but the copper was a no go. And the next size up drill I had was too big. :sigh:

    So as any Modder would when faced with this kind of situation, I improvised. :D
    I had already drilled pilot holes for a 4mm tap to go through.

    So starting with the Peltier block I drilled out holes to let the bolts go through, then I followed with a bigger drill to countersink the bolt heads

    Then I applied the silicone to the block

    Threaded the bolts through and bolted them in

    And I left I over night for leak testing.

    It looks kind of industrial but I left it as it was…

    Next up was the cpu block.

    So after having slept properly I realized that I could have tapped the acrylic tops, threaded the bolts through the bottom and not use nuts.
    that way there would be nothing sticking out the top. :duh:

    Sooo I did just that but when I tried to countersink the holes for this block, the heads were a little too close to the edge,

    Some even overhung. But the contact area was not affected at all.

    And the block is still watertight. So it will do :)


    Last of all were the gpu blocks.

    When I looked at them, there was no way that I could countersink bolts into the bases.
    Seeing as I had not planned to bolt them in that way, I didn’t have enough room in the base plates for this.

    So once again I decided to call it a day and sleep on the problem.

    This proved to be a good idea, because I decided to try something that I didn’t think would work.
    Putting the hand tap into a drill and going for it. There was a risk that I might break the tap, but if I go slowly it should be okay right?

    Well I was pleasantly surprised when the tap just slipped into the material and went all the way through without a hitch. I was suddenly wishing I had done this to the cpu block because it worked just fine. :wallbash:

    Here are the gpu blocks assembled the way I had initially planned:

    The Gpu blocks are definitely turning out to be my favourites :D
    The Cpu block looks reasonable.... :D

    Im not sure what to do with the bolts sticking out of the peltier block, should I leave them like that? Or file them all the way down?

    So thats it, the blocks are 90% finished.
    Now all I need to do is match the support holes to the cards and Mobo.
    I have the dimensions, but I’d rather take everything apart and make sure they fit.

    The support holes will wait while I am designing a tube routing solution.
    I can't get my 3d max to work, but I will try and see if i can get a pic of my idea for the tube routing.
    This might be a good time to finally try sketch-up huh? :blush:

    Oh and BTW the blocks are all watertight (On the first go too! lucky me!). No leaks so far and I think they should easily stay water tight when under pressure. :D

    You might have clamped the tops down too much there. The fact that you can see the copper means there's no more sealant in the seam.
    I'd also recommend a countersink on the inside of the mounting holes. That way there's a bit of extra material where the leak will most likely happen.

    Thanks for the feedback.
    There is sealant on the inside of the blocks too. Up till now there have been no leaks, but that is with no pressure...
    I will connect them up to the pump sometime tonight or tomorrow and i'll see what happens. :worried:

    I set up a cheap and cheerful loop to test the blocks.
    I also used my traditional food color so I can trace leaks easier.

    Been running for 3 hours straight without a leak. :thumb:

    I'll wait and see for now. But looks promising :rock:

    That green liquid looks really sick inside the tubings! Its unbelievable, I am amazed cause green inside the loop is may favourite color(though I didnt do a mod with it yet) and so far all the colors I used on the past wasnt even near to that! What did you use?

    Nice to see that the blocks are ok, I think you are rock solid after 3 hours of testing! Go on buddy

    That's a very nice green, shame that coloured coolant leaves gunk in your waterblock.

    Haha, thanks. Like i said its just food coloring, Moir's I think.
    Its the only color i found in the kitchen.

    I use it because if a little drop leaks out, it will dry really quick in all that tissue and i'll never notice it, so I add a little color to make sure.

    As to the tint itself, its just luck coupled with a flash. :p

    And no leaks!
    Been testing it with the pump on and off but always filled since yesterday night. I'd say it had water for about 18hours and about 5-6hours with the pump running.

    Like I said, its just to trace leaks easier, I've already flushed the blocks. Does all colored coolant leave gunk in the blocks? :worried:

    In my experience, colored coolant looks good for a few months then gradually leaves crap in the waterblocks and tubing. Unless you plan on changing the water religiously, clear is the way to go.
