It's not a question of rookie or not. It's just a bit of work with the prep and the sanding and all that.
Nice work. It just so happens that I also have a Cosmos S and plan on painting it with Halfords paint Mind telling me how much primer and paint you have used?
@Stonedsurd - One of the things that worries me is that the motherboard tray is riveted and thus non-removable, making sanding the inside of the case difficult >< I do however have a spare Antec 900 that could serve as a home for my rig while I work on my Cosmos. @Bulldog - Thanks for the kind words! I had never really sanded or painted anything in my life before, so I'm proud of my results @Merple - I bought 1x 300ml can of red primer and 1x 300ml can of red paint - I used Honda Red paint (Halfords obviously sell car paint but it works just as good). I completely used all the paint can when finishing the side panel, and the primer can feels pretty empty too. So I used all of both cans for this job.
Love red, that's my favorite color combination. It's looking very nice and well done on your first mod!
Gloss is not that hard to get a nice finish. as said before get the prep work done then wet and dry in between coats to get the smooth finish. as for the motherboard tray, drill out the pot rivets then paint it all then pot rivet it back together. case is looking good though mate nice work.
Thanks for the info ph4zed, I have some Ford paint picked out. Looks like I'll be needing quite a few cans to do insides and side panels. Is red primer specifically for red paint? I've only really seen the grey kind being used.
you can get white primer, i would say use white or grey but it depends on what colour your planning on using
I got the red primer simply because it was the same price as the white If you were using red primer and wanted to paint something white, you'd obviously need more coats for the same result due to the colours, whereas red paint over red primer is a doddle
that's it mate i have always used white primer my self, its up to you what you go for mate and its all trial and error
Just popped up to Halfords earlier and the sticker on the paints I wanted said to use grey primer just a couple more things to order and I can take apart my cosmos
Very nice, I agree once it's black it shall look great. Keep it up. PS are these PC's living in a workshop, looks very dusty
I'm debating starting a Project Log for this mod as I'm continuing my work on the case and I don't think this is the best place for continuing the photos of my progress. Any thoughts?
