I have a phenom based 2.2GHz Athlon 5000+ (45nm) Which may have the potential to be unlocked to a triple core or quad core. (Phenom FX-5000) http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=236217 I Also have an ASUS M3A78-t which has unlocking ability System Specs: 2.2GHz AMD Athlon X2 5000+ ASUS M3A78-t 2GB DDR2 6400 From what I read its just a matter of: -updating to the latest bios -then in the bios enabling ACC and Unleshing Mode I save changes and the pc wont post past bios, it says Unleashing Mode Failed I'm fairly new to unlocking and overclocking so any help would be greatly appreciated I also know that its wont be guaranteed to unlock, but its worth a try
Btw as a backup if it doesnt unlock, which CPU cooler would you recommend: arctic freezer 7 pro??? Beause right now on stock cooler I can get to 2.6GHz easy
I think it might be that, because your CPU is an older model, thats theres nothing there to actually unlock. It's a proper dual core and thats it. I may be wrong, but thats the only reason I can think of at the moment.
I did it on an MSI board and it just worked, straight boot into Windows. Not sure what unleshing mode is but on mine it was enable ACC and set Ec Firmware to hybrid (I think). Then save and exit and it booted like normal, shows up as an X4 now. If it's not working for you then the chances are you only have two cores unfortunately. Edit: turns out Unleashing mode is the same as Ec Firmware so yeah, if it was gonna work that's what would do it =/
