I have to go with the 9500 because you can run AA without dropping 20fps. If I were to buy a card tomorrow, that's the card I would shoot for.

Of course, if you're in no hurry. Give a couple months for the gffx to hit shelves and prices will drop :)

I've never seen the need for an instructions manual for a gfx card so thats no huge loss. You save money by not having bundled rubbish and the crushed box would be down to the shipping not the manufacturer.

I think the basic 9500 (non-Pro) is slower than the Ti4200?

If thats the case then I'd save the extra and get a 9500 pro, or get the Ti4200.

Well think if it was the 1st bit of hardware you had ever brought, and you get it to put into your TIME pc, and u have no clue what to do with it? then its flipping stupid, sorry but complietly disagree with you.

Prior to building this pc, the only thing I'd done was install a new stick of RAM.
I bought most of this OEM so the only manual I had (or needed) was for my motherboard.

Anyway, were both entitled to our own opinion so lets not drag this off topic :)

Neon, if it was the 9500 Pro then I'd go for that, but I'm not sure about the performance of the standard version.
If your looking at the OTES I assume you want to overclock?

theoverclockingstore.co.uk do the OTES for around £0.60 more, but you get free delivery so it probably works out a few quid cheaper.

Looks to be a nice card :)

go for the 9500 pro, considering it can beat a ti4600....as for sapphire not coming with anything...isnt that the whole point of buying OEM?

Hmmmm... This is what PC Pro says:

Test System: AMD Athlon XP 1900+, Asus A7V266-E, 256MB DDR266 RAM

    3D performance 3D Winmark 2000 WinXP 1024x768x32 Bit(Direct X 7.0)

    ti4200: 277 frames/s
    r9500: 248 frames/s

3D performance Quake 3 Arena WinXP 1024x768x32 Bit (Open GL)

    ti 4200: 179 frames/s
    r9500: 160 frames/s

    3D performace 3D Mark 2001SE WinXP 1024x768x32 Bit (Direct X 8.1)

    ti 4200: 9119 points
    r9500: 9365 points

Highend 3D performance Spec Viewperf Awadvs 4 WinXP 1280x1024x32 Bit (Open GL)

    ti 4200: 103 frames/s
    r9500: 108 frames/s

Overall the ti4200 just wins by a few frames, however the radeon9500 is better in more advanced applications. I would go for the radeon! And have you read this?

The OTES is actually quite a poor overclocker according to this review of 12 different 128mb 8x agp Ti4200's.

Quake 3 has always been a winning benchmark for nVidia. It just runs very well on their cards. While the engine is used for many games, it doesn't reflect overall performance very well.

    Also, was that a 9500 or a 9500 Pro?
There's quite a large performance difference.

PCFormat gave the "Abit Siluro Geforce4 Ti4200-8X 128M OTES AGP, DDR" A steling review, got about 95%. I also have an ABIT mobo + GFX card, and i have never had any major problems with them! And the OTES Cooling system is meant to be just superb for like cooling anything !!!! :)

I would go for that, also sapphire are like pretty crap usually :) well not crap, but not great :) Abit are usually up the top there :)

With the 9500, you can play around a bit and make it a 9700 :D

And the ati cards can take AA without whining, unlike the nvidia cards...
