I have a seal kit coming my way soon. I think it must be the issue because I seem to get the sag set perfectly at 25% and then after my ride it is sitting at 40% sag. Will running a slightly higher initial pressure reduce the bottoming effect? I realize with my leverage ratio it is only 4 inches of travel but a simple root or curb drop shouldn't bottom it with a clank, especially when the fork still has 4-5 inches of travel left.

 

If the shock is new, send it back for replacement, losing air that fast is not normal.

If it's used, send it off for a service, perhaps TFTuned or do it yourself.

 

As far as I am aware, what TF tuned do in a standard service is an air sleeve maintenance. And if they find a real problem they charge big bucks.

Not really worth it imho.

 

Whats the best way to remove the cotter pins? Nothing to grip onto the end of the pin and hitting it hasn't worked at all....

What model Conti's are they?

I just got a Schwalbe Little Albert for the front, it's pretty grippy and solid (pumped up to 65psi and the nobbles feel almost like plastic to the touch rather than squishy rubber) so they might actually last for a good few months. Will be getting one for the rear too to replace my Michellin if it turns out any good.

 

They are Verticals , and treds also feel very solid , had a blast up hill this morning on a dirt track and they dig in well so all is good

 

That's pretty shocking for £85. I gather they replace the o-rings (which probably cost circa £50p) but it's probably 10 minutes of labour if that's all they do...

 

I serviced my Fox RP23 in about 30-45 minutes. It's fairly easy to do.

 

I use 'zocchi's and have never had to service them

 

I have Marzocchi Dirt Jumper and it feels like it's in need of looking after. Then again, I just couldn't be bothered with changing the oil and checking the seals as it also makes a very, very ominous noise that I'm sure can't be fixed by any means of servicing...


EDIT: tried to go for a spin last night. Yet another flat. FFS I think that's fourth for this summer.

 

I did a ride with some folks who had a few, slow as balls going uphil

 

I replaced the seals and one looked just a bit off, almost like it wasn't a consistent diameter all the way around. After I finished I set the sag a bit stiffer than normal and went for a really long ride. It appears to be holding air a lot better and I can't bottom it anymore even when I try.

 

Does anyone have any experience with servicing Fox Talas forks? The video walkthrough makes it look fairly simple, but sourcing parts is proving alot more difficult.

 

Never serviced one, have you tried Mojo for parts?

 

Just been down to Glentress for the first time in nearly a decade, good fun!

 

Went for a 25 mile trip today. Cant say that it was particularly slow going up hill on the way out.

On the way back, however, it was a little slow.

As a side note. : MY THIGHS! ouch.
