8800 gts 512 and the 250 are exactly the same chip G92 .. not much of an upgrade.

The green 240 (no 6pin power connector) in my pc rarely sees much above 3800ish

My MSI N250GTS Twin Frozer 1Meg which I fitted yesterday is giving 5750PPD according to FahMon.

It is the green version running at a core speed of 675MHz which I have not tried to overclock yet, but I'm pleased so far. It uses a 6 pin power cable.

Are you running the fan at 100% (using SpeedFan, for example)? I have four 8800GT's in a single machine that does 24/7 folding. I leave the GPU fans at 100% and the temperature doesn't go above 75oC in the 30 degree heat we've had recently, and on nights when it is cool (like the last couple of days), the GPUs haven't even gone past 60.

61 degC is highest I've seen so far, fan on auto (@ 36%) using MSI afterburner ( a version of riva tuner I believe).

I think perhaps it's worth looking at your airflow/cooling setup in general then mate, something is very wrong.

Some card's just do run hotter, my 8800gt is very happy at 85, no underclock required, it defeats the object.

Its the stream processors that do the work .. Lower the clocks but up the streamies. Tried and tested
My 8800gts is on 170th straight folding unit.
