Wow, never seen so many techniques applied to a single build. The attention to detail is astounding and the aspirations you have for the build are quite simply incredible. I don't imagine there are many items in the world that will play bluray and shoot flames. Are you in fact a baddie from a James Bond movie?
Where do you learn all of these techniques? Someone mentioned a casting demonstration at school, at my school I think we used a lathe once to make a knurled nut and the rest was hacksaws and files.
I have to admit to skimming your last post, so much work gone in there, I just can't take it all in at once on top of the casting and panel beating. I'll be back though.
Hats off to you, great work.

Yes thats me  in the next bond movie I will try to burn down the MI6 headquarters with my flame tank (just kidding)
Most of them I teach myself, I watch closely how other people do it on the internet >> google and youtube :D
For the rest some knowledge of material properties.
And the rest is just trial and error :D

I don't post much of the error though ;)

That looks amazing, I have never seen someone with such a high level of both metal working & technical skills before.

    Cannot wait for further updates.

    Update 5 - flamethrowers

    Time for a small update.

I have been busy designing and prototyping the most important part of this tank:
    The flame throwers! :)

As allways with prototyping there are successes and setbacks.
What I initially wanted to do is:
Blowing air past a hole to create a vacuum, this vacuum sucks in fuel which will then be blown into small particles (easy to ignite)
This mixture then has to travel past an constant arc which should ignite the mixture.

I first started with building an constant arc, I cracked open a few old CRT monitors to salvage the flyback driver from them.
As I was experimenting and researching I stumbled upon homebuilt plasma speakers A.K.A. singing arc.

These arcs are modulated by sound and can display normal audio.

Thus I created a prototype of such a speaker.
After some experimenting this is my first attempt, de sound is still a bit low but you clearly can hear the "C&C red alert's hells march" playing

Next part was the design of the flamethrower itself.

A large hole is drilled for the air-fuel mixture.

Also the back side has to be drilled.

This will become the hole through which the fuel will be transported to the vacuum chamber.

Next part is to drill the actual hole from the fuel hose to the vacuum chamber.

The drilled holes them are welded shut so no leakage can occur no matter the temperature.

These insulators will hold the electrodes for the sparc gap.

    Yeehaa a nice constant arc

After having created the inner nozzels (which control the amount of vacuum and the fuel-air ratio)
    I did a few tests.

The fluids did spray very well with my design but the ac just couldn't ignite the mixture.
I did some test with a guard flame running on butane.
I bought 2 butane tourches and created new housings for them and adapted them in such a way they could be shut off with a valve.

You can see the tourches here, they are fitted in a new brass housing.

I created this holder to accomodate the tourches, the touches will be mounted at an angle for the best ignition position.

Then I welded it toghethe with the flamethrower itself.

You can see how the electrode will now ignite the butane gas, I am thinking of relocating the electrode to the top of the flame thrower so the air won't intterupt the ozone created by the arc.

You can see the thing with the tourch attached.

    And the rear.

And now the unit with the initial valve attached (this changed later)

I had to create a connector to distribute the butane to both tourches, that is why I made this.

Both pieces of brass are connected to each other by soldering them together.

And now with the air connectors attached.

Next step were the actual results :D, hope you like them.
In this picture you can see the complete setup, more detail is shown in the movie.

If you have questions : please ask ;)

High voltage sparks, butane and various flammable liquids? That's by far the scariest thing I've seen on this forum. Ever.

Well I am honored to hear that from the "failure specialist" ;)

I you imagine an avarage taser uses about 50Kv :D
    I generate about 70Kv per arc :D
so essentially I have a driving bomb with:
    • A bottle of butane
    • 2x 200 bar of compressed air
    • 2x 70kv taser
    • a few litres of fuel (spiritus/diesel/whatever burns)

LOL when I think of it :D

First-class effort - I love it! I'm impressed with the flamethrower-esque look of the whole affair, too. I figured that without napalm-esque fuels you wouldn't get the long spit of flame, but it works quite nicely.

I have another design flame thrower designed already.
That design relies on a more traditional flame thrower.
(where a stream of fuel leaves the nozzle and on its way is ignited).

This has as advantage that the range is way better (up to 5 to 10 meters) without problems
but the risk of burning down my own house is much larger :D

I think about building this flame thrower when I am done building this case mod and making them exchangeable with the current flame thrower.

The denatured-alcohol-fuelled Super Soakers were always the most impressive in terms of range, but like you say, if your current gas-gun goes off in doors, it'll be unpleasant but not necessarily fatal, whereas something that lands still on fire will most definitely set things off to a bad start...

    You sir are crazy.
Like one day you woke up and said. What if I built a flamethrower in my PC that sound cool. Whereas normal people would have said a flamethrower in my PC, that's
    a- impossible
    b-dangerous
    c- insane.
