Both nvidia and ati had a load of chips to broken to be GTX 470/5850's but still good enough for something so the GTX 470 and 5830 were born to make use of them.

    Yup, likewise.

However, in regards to the same settings vs playable FPS thing, I understand what you're saying about tweaking things for a particular card but it doesn't allow a comparison in an easy and direct bar graph. It must be the scientist side of me; when doing an experiment, you only want to change one variable at a time - in this case the GPU itself.

Am I counting numbers incorrectly, or bit-tech.net crew just biased their way on the bf2:bc 16x10 4xaa 16xaf chart? Hd5850 looks even below gtx 460 768mb overriding the fact they have the same minimum fps, but for truth's sake +10 average fps still can't call you to justice?

Should be fixed. It's just how it comes out of the engine automatically when the "sort minimum" button is pressed.

Use a different method then, summate minimum+ average perhaps? God I wish I had an easy job sometimes...

    768MB is a tad expensive for me, I'll go with a 5770.

GTX 460 is £20-£30 more, well worth saving up for an extra month or so.

That cost is offset by the fact that once you overclock it's probably worth alot more.

Sorry for the resurrect but I'm curious: why doesn't the 5970 appear on your benchmarks anymore?

It wouldn't really be fair to compare a 5970 to a mid range GPU, unless SLI performance was being analysed.

and now I see there's a 2GB version available. Wonder if there are any real world benefits to the added RAM.
