    = fubar.

I had this VFD working ages ago, but can't remember what software I used. Anyway, I thought I'd use Smartie, as I've used it before, but when I load it, this happens:

Tried copying the supplied DLPORTIO.DLL but no joy. Also Googling to no avail.
Sorry for being a n00b.

Is that the latest smartie? I had some similar problems with a .0 release of it, but it got fixed and I heard the the latest one was b0rked again too.

It does that on mine when I run Motherboard Monitor.

Just check you've not got something running like that. That may help you out.

    jaLCD looks *very* good.
Unfortunately, it has the same problem, only less severe than Smartie's. :(

I have nothing of similar nature running in the background.

Sounds like something else causing you problems. I keep both jaLCDs & Smartie up to date and have never had peoblems with either.

    Maybe I'm just special :D

Had this problem a few times, reinstalling a few times always seems to sort it...

Smartie is a bit rubbish though, you wouldn't catch me using it :)

You MUST install the I/O port driver if you are using 95/NT/2000 or XP. (Here is the link).

    Hope it helps....

Excellent mate, thank you very much! :D

So, no more errors. But both Smartie and jaLCD just make it either blink a box in the middle, or just spew random garbage :blah:
I'll look at the configuration, or I suppose a wire could've come loose somewhere with it being chucked around in my 'spares box'
