Good luck to you and hope you get a great buzz from it. I would be too chicken myself, I did one of those slingshot bungee thingies, where you sit in a round cage and then get launched, in Portugal a few years ago. They had a camera mounted on the cage and recorded the experience. When you come off the thing, they show the vid to the crowd, and I have never been so embarassed. I swore like a trooper all the way through, and even managed a few girlie style screams. My mate's girlfriend went on with me, and she was pissing herself at me all throughout. I hated every minute of it, so I could never do anything like what you have planned.
Not only that, but it probably would have taken a fair bit longer to descend than the bungee jump. Bungee jump was probably the easiest option, as he was guaranteed to go straight down to his target course. With a base jump, going vertically down, would have been quite tricky to get on target. Of course, this is just a film though, not real life
Haha, I've done that very jump The platform you launch yourself from extends a fair way out, and when you reach the bottom, you'll still be a loooong way from the bottom. They'll let a cable down which you have to grab and clip into a carabiner on your harness before they pull you back up. I had a good laugh, and I'm sure you will too. You're heart will be trying to beat it's way out of your chest during the entire build up, I seem to recall that even my knees were trembling like a little girl when they called my name out. Good luck
Good luck with that. Bungee jumping is next on my list of things to do. First on that list list is skydiving, which I'm about to do later today.
Well I did it! Once I got up on the platform any thought of the whole swan dive thing went totally out the window. It's easy enough to plan on doing it but holy hell when you stand up there on the edge it's a looong way down. Video: The guy filming had just done it and was still shaking from adrenaline and he was apparently quite scared of dropping my new iPhone over the edge That's why the camera work isn't exactly too great.
We were on the dam for about 3 hours. It was raining (which isn't a problem) but thunderstorms kept cropping up and they don't let anyone on if there is lightning about. When I actually went on the platform I made a point of not looking down, until I jumped
I pretty much didn't think about it until after I'd leapt. The guy said to me "Ok, on go just jump full power as if you were diving onto a bed. 3, 2, 1, GO" And I just jumped. There's a moment just before you are airborne when you know you're committed. The next moment is just "holysh*tthisisinsane!" followed by a lot of falling. It reminded me a little of Mirrors Edge, you know when you fall. It looked like that. Motion blur and everything. Epic fun.
GERONIMOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. +rep for not looking down and doing it! Last autumn there was a small bungee jumping spot at our school and it was SO terrible to see someone not jump. Took her probs 10 minutes, argh.
