Multi Latest Steam & General Gaming Bargains: Read first post!

I've heard enough!

For the cost of a mixed kebab I've taken the plunge. It's also by an indie which makes it doubly worthwhile.

 

Does Steam pre-load things it thinks you're super likely to buy, or is it just that it hasn't deleted the GSB demo from my account properly? It's just loaded the whole thing in less than a minute on my computer, should take at least 10 minutes.

 

No way would it pre-load - that would murder everyone's internet. I think it's more likely that the common files that were downloaded with the demo have been kept in case they proved useful for something you bought in future - in this case, the game. That way all the Source games don't have to download a new engine every time etc; I know this isn't a Valve game but I guess the principle remains the same.

Edit: So I'm in the middle of Belfast right now...and Steam is giving me Dollar prices. And not letting me buy GSB!

Now I can't even login! Damn it all I wanna shop! Is there any way to force localisation if it doesn't kick in automatically?

 

Are you using the Steam client or steampowered.com?

It was the website, fixed itself after a half hour or so dollar prices are awesome, wish it woulda just worked...

 

My Steam showed up in dollars the other day as well. And I don't think it lets you log in because it's not a US account.

 

Aw, damnit! I just decided to buy GSB and the sales ended. Back to £17.99. Bit steep for what it is I think.

 

Yeah, I think £18 is a bit much, £10 would be what I'd pay and think it was a fair-good deal.

Ash: GSB is all about finding a good combo of weapons, hardpoints and a hull. I'm using a Rebel cruiser with loads of plasma cannons as my workhorse atm - it pwns really hard.

 

Nation Red looks quite tempting - does anyone on here already have it?

 

I checked my games list and I do have Nation Red, must have picked it up in a previous bargain sale ... but like many other games I haven't played it yet

Indeed, booo. Also it completely broke on my main PC wiping my savegame. I was not best impressed (luckily I had a copy on my netbook and after a day or so it noticed the new steamcloud files didn't match and let me overwrite them with the netbook ones). Looking on the steam PvZ forums that happened to a lot of people, also it doesn't register about 80% of my achievements for it any more (in-game, they're still on my steam profile).

I only had 1 achievement left to get before, now I have loads! (I'm not sure if this is good or bad...)
