Any players around? There were a couple of other threads, but nothing about the game in general. I'm having to play through again (GFWL is terrible about game saves on different OSs . ) and I've been having to pump the difficulty up as high as it goes to get a challenge out of Trailblazer events. Anyone else get this? It always seems like the easiest event to win. I usually overtake at least one competitor. Here's a video! That car likes to slide. So... anyone else around? What's your favourite car or event? If you wanna add me on LIVE, I'm sleepygamester.
I quite like the Lancer - the one that you can get the AMD/ATI logos on. Its quite a fun car to drive. I have to have the car quite oversteery on the game, so the back end steps out quite a bit. The trailblazer in Morroco's my favorite, closely followed by the first circuit you visit in London.
I'm quite partial to the Utah Trailblazer, the reverse one I think. That Lancer X is pretty awesome. I tend to have it pretty oversteer-y too, but the BMW is so hard to get the power from the wheels onto the track. As much as I think the BMW is a pain to drive, it gets results. I haven't re-unlocked the BEST Trailblazer car yet. It's the one that looks a bit like an oversized go cart. It's a beast. I think I'm addicted to making videos!
Damn you Kenco! I never noticed it at all first time, now I can't stop staring at the thing! It's like a mole or something
ARG! Now I can't stop staring at it! It's like a beacon flashing at me! MAKE IT STOOOOOP! Also, I apologise for the video quality. I'm on a crippled half meg upload / quarter meg upload, so files much over 60MB take too long for me to bother, so I have to compress them right down. >.<
Rallycross isn't my specialty. There's a modicum of body contact when I'm really pushing the car (i.e. when I'm losing and trying as hard as I can to catch up) but I generally try and keep no contact online.
I haven't been able to play DIRT2 in ages, I've developed that stuttering thing codies racers are so good at. Favourite events are definitely Trailblazers, not picky about which track. I just like tanning about sideways with the throttle fully open. The rally stages are also pretty good, as are the smasher ones. Not a fan of the RallyX or any of the big truck events. I don't like driving on ice. e: Sweet, it's working again since I stripped out and reinstalled my x-fi drivers.
Man now I want to dig through the box in the closet and reinstall this thing. I haven't played in forever. I have so many dang games I never even beat this one. LOL I always find myself back in GTR2 on the Daytona Rolex course behind 49 other cars in an LMP2 car on a 10 lap race trying to pwn the audi's LOL I always finish at least 5th or better everytime. Which reminds me..... Nah I'm not on water yet and its too stuffy in this office here in TX I don't wanna fire up the game rig lol
Bump, because I got my rig working and reinstalled this again. I've taken to actually using manual gearboxes now. I don't know how legitimate a technique it is. but on a few modes I have found it a good idea to drop down a gear before the turn, drift in while keeping the revs high, and then jump to the next gear when I wanna come out of the drift. Saved me a good few seconds in a couple of races.
I, too, prefer no contact where possible. And I still remember Gunsmith and I taking Rallycross cars on Raid and Landrush tracks. That was a moment of GENIUS, I say. GENIUS.
I really, really hope that they get rid of the Dale Winton orange bloom effect for the next one. There was something about both Dirt and Dirt 2 that made me feel as if I was racing in a dream. I also hate the menus - it seems such a faff just to race. I much prefer simple menus in game without any whizzy effects which in the end simply delay you doing the thing you came for! F1 2010 was the same. Having said all this I did enjoy playing DIRT 2!
Damn right we expect better menus. *Stares at Gunsmith* More retro rally cars plz. Escort Mk. II is my favourite, but I'd love to see some Mini action. Also: For the PC, for the love of all that is beloved, let me choose the resolution and control scheme BEFORE I get dumped into the first race. And preferably before I get to a cacky 800x600 Windows LIVE screen where the cursor fails to line up with anything of value. :3
So I got bored today, and when racing, this song came on. It felt right for how I was driving, so I stuck it over my replay. Fun!
