    Disaster strikes!!!!Twice!!

Had a good week ends modding considering the weather we've been having, but all not of it went well...I'll explain. The stone effect paint on the PSU is pretty think and takes a while to dry, so I gave it a week and then put it all back together. Switched it on to check it and...Nothing!. Ok I thought can't be to much probably just a wire, so I stripped it down, check it all and low and behold it was just a wire, as I thought. Any way as I took the tester out form the PSU,I move it slightly upwards and touched the power switch...Ah ,you know what comes next don't you...

Well first of all there was a big flash, then a loud bang and a puff of smoke...Then it all went dark!
The next thing I know there was a bright light coming towards me...I just kept repeating to myself " Don't go towards the light, don't go towards the light". Any way, turns out I wasn't dead and it was my mate Dean holding a torch with a rather bemused look on his face. " what the f**k have you blown up now mate" were his only words.

Then on Sunday, just to add insult to injury I managed to drop the side panel onto the base and chipped both on them, easy enough to sort out, but still a pain in the arse..

You have no idea how much swearing was going on when I done this....Then when I settled down the crying started:waah:

The Psu blowing ups set me back a bit, thats got to be replaced now and I still have RAM and all the gear for the cabling to get, not to mention numerous other bits and pieces.

I would love to water cool the whole lot but thats going to throw a nice little lump on the final cost of it all. Oh dear going to get expensive.

Finishing paint and playing with mirrors

Having recovered from my trauma from blowing things up and trashing some paint work it dawned on me that I'd actually got quite a bit done.

First up the original side panels had the grills fitted, these had to go.I wanted to change them to perspex windows.

The top of the case has now been painted to match the base in the black metal flake and the rest is in Ferrari red with the gold and silver metal flake over the the top.

    1'st of all the top....

    And the side panels

I made up some case windows from perspex and the then covered them with 2 way mirrored film, so when the computers switched off all you see is a mirror and when it's on and lit up all the insides are revealed..

If your wondering what the stripe is for thats the side panel where the wires are hidden, the idea being to put some LED's in to light it up the backs been sprayed Matt black to stop the light coming through and only showing the mirror
    [IMG]

And the painted panels and door...

The insides of the side panels have been painted to match the top and the base..

    Modding the bottom panel....

To carry the mirrored theme through I made up a mirrored panel for the bottom of the case.....

while all the chopping up of plastic was going on and I was making it all shiny ,it suddenly dawned on me that by making a solid side panel and doing the same with the base I was killing the air flow to the case...Not good. So the newly made bottom panel got thrown down the garden and I stopped for a cuppa.

The solution was quite simple make a new panel with a few fans in..
1'st I made up a new panel and filled it with holes..

then it was covered with mirrored film..

The bottom grill was removed and drilled to accept the fans

And then fitted back in to the case simple and now we got loads of air and it looks quite good

Right thats enough from me for now...Next time the from panel gets carved up..

Thanks for the comments guys. I haven't had a chance to do anything with the case, been doing some room modding instead. I want to try and get the front panel done over the week end if I can.

But here's what I've been doing instead of modding...lol

Thats the Misses new corner/office bit.

    Thats my new corner..Needs a bit of a tidy up I think..lol

I knew I'd find a use for the old grills off the stacker:dremel:

It had to be done...keeps the peace though, especially when she sees me come in the house with a load more bit's for the project....

More proper modding coming soon I hope..lol

Front panel mod, more paint and sorting out the chips

Been a busy boy again today:

This is all I'm using for the painting....nothing special..

First up...Remember the base got chipped when I dropped the side panel on it , well this had o be rubbed back and redone....

Looks a bit better now doesn't it.....

The nose cone bit that holds the USB's needed painting so this has been done as well.....

Next on the list was the front panel, nothing major just a little bit better than what was there
before. I'm not to sure if I like it, so it could change before it all goes back together...What do you guys think of it?

Yeah I know, it should be on the front of a rally car..lol

    Right some final pics....

Thats that whole lot in bits, with a bit of luck the next time you see it , it'll be a case once again..

    Thanks for looking in.....more soon;)

    Front panel

Need a bit of feed back guys what do think of the new front grill?

Should I leave it as it is or make up some thing similar to the case floor with the mirror effect?

Or should I make up a mirrored panel and then do a quick poll?

    Confused...lol:wallbash:

Isn't that grill covered by the door? Thats how i'm seeing it. If thats the case (no pun intended...well maybe a little) then i would personally go for the same black+glitter as the rest of the main body so it ties in and leaves the red outer shell/door as accents and wont draw attention from the awesome paint which is on it ;) You'll still be able to see the lovely hex pattern holes in too.

Just my tuppence worth :) Looking very stylish all round though, and gutted for your mishap.
