This is madness! Just amazing buddy! I would prefer those cylinders around the fan though to be black or more like silver - chrome

Geez those fans are crazy great looking. What was it you used, RC plane motor nose cones? Machined plates put the look way over the top! I'm drooling over the thoughts of what you're going to do with the shrouds! :D

I dunno, I think the simplicity of the components goes well with the simplicity (and elegance) of the designs. Water cooling might take away from the beauty of the case design itself.

But then again, with the genius designer we have here, I'm sure he would find someway to make it look amazing and awe-inspiring.

Thanks guys, I'm glad you like the project. :thumb:

Water cooling? Never say never. ;) Anything's possible.

An update shouldn't be too far away. I've just had one of those WTF moments in relation
to the mobo and heatsink. Will show you soon. :)

Things have been going pretty slow because of varied and prolonged illness.
Making a shell has come down to showing as much as possible of the internal
    structure at all times. A detachable side/half front/half back/third lower/complete
upper section is being made from various thickness clear plex. Here are some pics
showing the start, here is the side/front and top. This assembly will be held in place
    with four screws.

The parts were cut out with a jigsaw and filed straight and square using the straight
edge method I used to use with alu.

Gluing up was not very difficult and the bond looks good and appears to be strong.

Still two more pieces to cut and glue but I can get a good idea of what it will look like from
just these parts. Yes it's a box but, hopefully the eye doesn't linger too long on the outside.

A while ago when the hardware was trial fitted, I noticed that the heatsink was not sitting
square. At the time this was just brushed off and attention was focussed elsewhere. The hardware was removed and set up on my desk, running for a couple of months. Every now
and then my eye would drift to the right and wonder if that heatsink was not placed correctly,
but I'd checked the temps and all was OK. Anyway, a few weeks ago it was time to get to
    the bottom of this.............

I trawled through some photo's and could only find this one. But it does show clearly that
    the heatsink is 'drooping'.

Taking the heatsink off and measuring, showed that there was no problem here.

Removing the support plate and having a look at the CPU retention bracket didn't reveal
    anything obvious.

But when checking with an engineers square............

WTFF!... It's only a small discrepancy but is magnified by the size of the heatsink.

I'm going to make the adjustment on the heatsink. Wish me luck. :worried:

I just have to work out a way to hold the heatsink in the vice without damaging the fins, and
then file a whisker of an angle and keeping it flat.
