There is no way I can touch WoW again with a barge pole - I have an addictive personality and very little self control. Sorry to hijack but: Are Baldurs Gate and Icewind Dale still worth playing do you think? I missed them originally but work at an Oxfam Music store and have seen them out back so may be able to pick them up for a few quid... *Edit* And Planescape Torment is there also.
Haha, will do then! Guess I'm going to need a bit of free time to get though them though... I think Baldurs Gate II was there too. Might just grab the four and bring them out rainy days.
Personally my favourite RPG is pokemon although it's not very traditional and the tactics and numbers aren't explained very well in game.
nor is it really a challenge just level up s quickly as you can and you will be fine but yes pokemon are a great series of games
Of course it's easy if you overlevel but even with a team of only 3-4, battling trainers alone only gives you enough XP to just match the level of the Gym-leader pokemon and fighting against wild Pogeys is a grind. That said, it's still easy to Iron-man it and finish without a single defeat (including those suffered under save/reset).
Planescape Torment is one of my all time favorite RPG's. The only things that come close are Ultima III, IV, V & VII
I managed to find and put Baldurs Gate I & II, Icewind Dale (and expansions), as well as Planescape Torment aside. Should keep me busy for a while...
I don't know the first thing about any of those games. Couldn't even name the genres. Oh, given the thread I can guess, I suppose What would you call Dreamfall? Is that an adventure game or an RPG? It'd probably be quite a good introductory title, very easy and fairly varied and interesting environs & story.
If you still have a PS1/2 lying around get Diablo 1 and get the missus playing through that with you. Even now i still have full weekends of a mate coming over and us going dungeon crawling. They're never intended to be weekends but once you've started its "oh crap....its light again and we still haven't eaten...."
Yeah, not really a true RPG game but they have enough elements to introduce someone. I got my girlfriend into gaming via Zelda. Gave her my DS and Phantom Hourglass and she loved it. Gave her Twilight Princess after she loved that too. Now she has a Triforce necklace, a t.shirt and she even made a link costume for haloween, complete with mastersword and hyrulian shield Mine loved Oblivion too, she named her horse "Pebbles"
