    i dont think software patents are valid in the uk/eu. software comes under copyright.

    The patents are indeed not valid here.

    New Zealand has recently rejected the idea of software patents, and so should the EU when (not if) the subject comes up. For now, you can infringe on any US software patent outside of the US as much as you like ("infringing" here means "writing software" ;)).

    All this coming from a guy who made his millions by stealing another companies idea! I guess that's why he patented every idea he had!
