ok folks i love retro gaming and love getting folks views on the best games out there..so this week lets get your views on the best driving games from the past...pick the game and the system you played it on..
I gotta say... Total Drivin', PSX. I loved that game. So so so much. It was so bad, and yet so good. I won a race driving backwards.
Not hugely retro, but... Need For Speed 3 aaaaaaaaaand LEGO RACERS! I also enjoyed F-Zero Maximum Velocity on the GBA lots too
I will always remember when Gran Turismo first came out on the PS, it was so ahead of it's time. I've been hooked on racing games since!
I was seriously addicted to TOCA Touring Car Championship in the late nineties, along with the original Colin McRae Rally - I wore out the wheel I had! Both were PC games and ran on a P3 866MHz (Slot 1) Windows 98 PC, 256mb RAM and a Geforce Voodoo 3DFX card paired with a Matrox PCI GPU before being upgraded to a Creative GeForce 3D Blaster Annihilator.
no. stop staining the awesomeness of Carmageddon with your twisted metal junk. running people over for points is the BEST. period.
i still have all the old quicktime replay files of some of the crazy **** i got up to (i manged to flip the plane on the runway ffs) i think i may compile it all into one nice long file and stuff it on YT EDIT: sweet, all files converted to AVI nicely, now to mash it all together, watching these brings a nostalgic tear to my eye.
NFS2SE was quite full of win I first got into racing games and time trial mode with Mario Kart on the SNES. Well, no actually. My first racing game ever was Al Unser Jr. on the NES but Mario Kart is what made me realize how fun it was to try and beat your own time Even to this day I prefer time trial over online races in GTR Evo. My first real racing game however was Gran Turismo. And it was great
