I'm pretty sure it does 1280 x 1024 - is there better than this & what would you suggest to get the most out of my card ? I'm afraid I'm new to all this ! - value your input....

Not necessarily. TV's do come in 1920x1080 you know.

    EDIT:

That resolution is no where near full 1080p, you could run that resolution fine with a 5770 let alone a 5970.

ah, that makes me feel a bit better !

but no worries - I'll try things out and if I need a dedicated gaming monitor to max performance then I'll fall off that financial bridge when I come to it.

I'll find out in about 2 weeks when the PC arrives....

and ill think you will find "HD ready" = 720p and "Full HD" = 1080p

so a TV thats "HD Ready" comes with a pixel resolution of 1280x720 or the more common 1366x768.

    please read before writing lol.

you got the model of your TV ?

The logo used to market a full 1080p set under the 'HD Ready' Branding.

Had to say it didn't you?
    lol

lol where the hell did you find that.

jesus talk about confusing but at least it says 1080p under it rather than just list HD ready and assume you know its 1080p rather than 720p lol

EDIT - ah wiki cant say ive ever seen it on a product though

Just to save you panicking Rowland, your tele is fine, but you wont get the best from your PC with a relatively low resolution TV. With a card like the 5970 you really need a multi monitor setup or a high end 30" monitor with a decent resolution...

The TV will be adequate, but you probably could have saved yourself a lot of money if its your sole 'screen'

thanks wejjy - I'll definitely go for a high end monitor in due course ! do they come any larger than 30"?

EDIT: I bought the TV about 4 years ago and it's a spare, so there's no loss.
