Just wondering what people think here.

Living in the SE of England, i get the large volume end of the stick when it comes to Immigration...

I hate to be xenophobic for no reason, but imho it does seem to be getting a little silly of late.

Here is a recording taken from in front of my computer* at 1.30AM today, it's now 2.30AM and the volume is unchanged:
    http://tinyurl.com/33xzkw6

This is a regular occurrence every weekend, and the same until ~11-12PM every night weekdays: neighbours chatting in their garden every night at approximately 200% of the volume a local person talks at...

    A few questions:

Am i just being xenophobic here? (bear in mind this did not start until 5-10 years ago but accelerated immensely since then)

What language is it? (sounds slightly french, but i'm pretty sure it isn't)

*(in front of my pc with window open, if i shut the window i get quiet but ~5-10degrees extra room temp this time of year)

Yes, you're just being xenophobic over a more extrovert culture.

Solution - watch porn at an equal volume. Either they'll become more uncomfortable and go inside, or more likely, you'll make some new friends :)

    Feel like experimenting? :dremel:

Hook up a cheap high frequency piezo tweeter, to an amplifier/radio, driven by high frequency generator... and give them occasional momentary ear piercing bursts whenever you hear them talk in the yard, whatever time of day it is. Keeping the bursts very short and infrequent will make it hard for them to tell which direction it's coming from, but if they ever ask you about it, you can say that you hear it sometimes when outside, and that you think it's from the street light or power lines or something

I'm talking about giving them a burst of like 18khz+, which is like the sound of a crt tube but even higher, and much louder. So they won't know wtf is going on, except that they get a headache whenever they talk outside, and pretty soon I bet they'll be trained into just not talking in the yard anymore

Doesn't sound like any (common) Indian language. Has a vaguely middle-eastern sound to it. Might be Farsi.

I like MV's idea. Mess with their heads man.

It's not xenophobia if your neighbours are annoyingly loud until the early hours of the morning. It is only xenophobia if you ascribe their annoying behaviour to them being foreigners and it stops you from dealing with it like you would with British noise polluters.

Politely ask them to turn it down a notch. Perhaps they genuinely don't realise. Remember: if you don't give people specific feedback they cannot change their behaviour.

    If that doesn't work:
    Pure win. :thumb:

You would know better about the Indian thing, their accent just sounded like stereotypical Indian speech IMO.

Half of my family speaks Farsi and speaks English with a heavy accent, that's what it sounds like to me.

Can't you just stick your head out the window and politely say "excuse me can you keep the noise down please i am trying to sleep?"

If they dont respond to that complain to the police/council.

You sir, are a genius :thumb:

Noise is noise, regardless of the source, and that is an inappropriate hour to be making that much noise. If you're nice, or better yet assertive, go talk to them, otherwise just ring up the police and file a complaint.

With some cleverly placed muting to only get the french knights lines you could have some fun ;)
