Hi Guys, Let me start by saying that I'm sorry if this is in the wrong place. I was wondering if it's possible to connect three monitors to a single graphics card. I was considering buying the GTX460 (or maybe the new ATI 6000 series that should be coming out shortly), I know the GTX460 has two DVI and one mini-hdmi port so would I be able to connect a monitor to each input. Thanks in advance.
Can you clarify on the 5 series, sorry I looked on Scan.co.uk and ebuyer.com and could not find any 5 series cards. Also do you know which ATI cards would support three monitors? Is there a cheap option to run three monitors, with out going down the SLI or Crossfire route? Thanks for the help
The ATI 5870 would be the equivalent to the GTX 460. I'm not to sure about the 460 running through the HDMI never tried it, but I'm sure some one on here will let you know for sure if it'll work.
You can do 3 monitors with one ATI card... As long as one of the monitors is hooked to the card via DisplayPort... So at least one of your monitors MUST have DisplayPort input for the 3 display setup to work.
Some people here don't read Bit-tech news... Here is what you want Geforce GTX 460 3 display support: http://www.bit-tech.net/news/hardware/2010/09/22/zotac-unveils-four-monitor-fermi/1 Basically Zotac used some tricks up it's sleeve to make this happen. My guess is that they unlocked the chip that allows multiple displays which is available on select Quadro models. Next year, it is expected to have Nvdia and ATi/AMD to release their new graphic card (AMD 6000 series (ATi name is now dropped), and Nvidia will Kepler architecture) http://www.engadget.com/2010/09/21/nvidia-reveals-fermis-successor-kepler-at-28nm-in-2011-maxwel/ http://www.engadget.com/2010/09/27/amd-radeon-hd-6770-and-6750-spec-sheets-emerge-give-nvidia-caus/
